w00t! The Amiga 4000 I bought from eBay does work. I installed the Scan Magic Scandoubler & Flicker Fixer today, and the Amiga 4000 works beautifully!!! :-D
What kind of RAM does the Amiga 4000 use?
I can even do PAL mode with an NTSC monitor. :-P
Hmmm, now to just buy an external 56k modem, that or Laplink it somehow to a PC.

Good times. Amiga 4000 uses 72 pin SIMMs, with a limit of 16 megs on the board in 4 slots?? (I can't remember anymore, but I'm sure 15 or so people here will tell you for sure)

72 pin SIMM. 4Mb/slot = 16Mb.
There's a jumper for the size of the SIMMs that can be set to 1Mb too giving you a total of 4Mb.

If you don´t use an accelleratorcard like I do then you´re stuck to maximum 16 Mb of Fast Ram. Wanna link it to pc or the internet ?? Get yourself an Xsurf ethernetcard because then you also get a free 3,5" IDE connector to add a cdrom and so you can use the internal IDE connector for harddrives only !!

You can install either up to 4 X 1MB SIMMs for 4MB total or, 4 X 4MB SIMMs or 2 X 8MB SIMMs for a total of 16MB. If you install 2 X 8MB SIMMs you may have some trouble as they mostly are double sided and they will not fit very well but I have got them to work in my 4000 and this does work! You have to install them into the 2nd and fourth socket (from right) to get this to work.

The Amiga 4000 I got came with 16mb, seems like I need to get a CyberStorm PPC. :-D
Anyone know of a cheap place to buy one from? Soft Hut wants $900 USD! :-o

Good luck. I've been looking around the US for a cheap one for about 8 years now...... Seems like only a few thousand made it to here. And, worse yet, the people who bought them are either keeping them, or they got a defective unit. QA was very low. :-(
Even a WarpEngine 040/060 or earlier CyberStorm 040/060 will allow a lot more RAM, plus be a lot faster than the stock 040@25. I run a CyberStorm Mk2 060 (50mhz) with 64 MB fast ram, and it really sped up the 4000, as well as helped with stability. (Due to cooler temperatures, I think -- an 040@25 runs hotter than an 060@50!)
