Title: Can i use an external floppy drive ?
Post by: rednova on March 04, 2012, 10:01:15 PM
Dear friends:

As I said before, my amiga boots into the 'insert disk screen'
then the internal floppy disk drive does not read the floppy disks.
I have en extra external floppy disk drive which is not connected now.
If I connect the extra drive, will it be possible for amiga to read
the workbench disk off it? At the 'insert disk screen' ?
Please help !!!

pretty sure you can.. i think that feature was from 2.x and up. can't remember if you have to hold down both mouse buttons and select df1: as a boot device before it boots off the disk.. wow been awhile. or boots right up.. hmm think i am gonna try it now lol..

What lostloven said, but you shouldn't have to worry about selecting DF1 at the early startup screen with Kickstart 3.x. Just pop the disk in and let her rip!

If you have Kickstart 1.3 or below, then you're going to need a hardware solution to that particular problem. ICD Shuffleboard. Good luck finding one of those.
