Title: Use Playstation 2 Controllers on Amiga based OS'!
Post by: XDelusion on February 27, 2012, 07:26:59 PM
I decided to systematically go through each and every Ebay listing for Playstation 2 controller adapters and buy one at a time until I found the one that was compatible with AROS/MorphOS.

Well as fate would have it, my first attempt was a good one! While my MorphOS machine recently died and I was not able to test on there, I was able to test on my AROS machine and the results were beautiful, and I'm sure this will work with MorhphOS or even a classic Amiga with USB adapter as well.

Here's a link to the auction...

I'm on my way back to purchase a couple more before you guys buy them all out! ;)

I've tried a few cheap PS2-USB adapters and they work fine on my A1200 (through the Subway) and my Aros boxes. One adapter came with a steering wheel controller I bought. It's just a shame they can't be used in regular, old Amiga games on the classic Amiga but they're great for emulation on the PC, and work fine in system-friendly games like Doom. I haven't tried it yet, but you could probably run Tracker Hero through UAE and use a guitar controller with it, they do work with these adapters too.

Should (in theory) work well with CD-32 games running on a 1200 or 4000.

Wasn't there an adapter out there to use a PS2 controller on an actual amiga?

I'm guessing not many CD32 games are going to work with Poseidon stack enabled...

rune:

yes there is an adaptor that plugs into the amiga joyports and lets you use PS controllers.

I used a playstation controller to usb adaptor with morphos 1.4 years ago! Worked well.. Do you guys think my PS2 controller will work with it?

Yes they are. I used one with drivers called Motioninjoy and it works faultlessly. Don't know if Win7 even needs it.

Well it seems you can use a PS2 controller on a PS1 so maybe my playstation usb adaptor will work with the ps2 controller in storage. I'll have to check it out.

My joystick doesn`t have enough buttons for FPSE, so this adaptor would be handy ;-)

I also own an adapter that let's you plug a PS2 controller into an Amiga Joystick port. It can be configured by holding down certain button configurations and can be configured to work as a 1, or 2 button controller, not to mention a CD-32 controller. Rapid fire is also an option.

As far as I know, No. Though Cammy might know more on the matter than I do.

Does it do mouse emulation?

Cammy's gone now, but AmigaManiac sells the PSX/PS2-CD32 adapters, which work on all classic Amigas with joystick ports. A600s need an extension cable though. http://www.amigamaniac.com/psx2db9.html

Does mouse emulation too.

Holy crap. I'll have to get one once I get paid again.

Any reviews of these out there?

THAT IS THE ONE!!!!!

Paul Willingham built mine directly, and I have to say that EVERY Amiga owner should have at least two! I'm going to order another one myself!

I'm planning to buy an Aone 500. I wanna know if there is any way to get a PS3-controller to work on it (with the cord I guess). I prefer those controllers over joysticks. Or what's the closest alternatives?
