Wow, what a strange controller! That would be insanely hard to use.
I do like that little switch labelled "Astroblast" though. There is something inherently cool about having something you can flick to "Astroblast" mode.

That's a great Atari 2600 controller actually... designed for Asteroids (and Astroblast) like minded games. Space Invaders obviously too. I have two of them in my collection and yes, they see some use. :)

Asteroids! Yes, of course. It must be perfect for that game.

It almost directly copies the layout from the Asteroids cabinet, IIRC. Certainly it'd be a lot easier to use for that specific purpose than the standard Atari sticks. But it is a bit weird looking at it now and seeing it as some kind of bizarro version of the NES gamepad :D

Back when I played SuperStardustAGA I really needed that AstroBlast button.

Not such a bad controller for platformers that use up as jump and don't use down at all.
It would work OK for Tetris too to should think.
It would be a freaking nightmare for topdown shooters though.
