Title: AROS on GeForce 6100
Post by: Iggy on February 08, 2012, 01:59:49 AM
Has anyone tried AROS on a Nvidia motherboard with on board graphics (6100, 6150, or 8100-8300)?
I've got a 15watt A64 I'm thinking about trying out in such a board.

My mobo has an nvidia chipset that includes a GF6100, and while I noticed no video problems, I couldn't use my keyboard at all.

Did you use a PS2 or USB keyboard?

Some time ago abi_v0 worked with native graphics on my nforce430/geforce 6150se motherboard machine, but the nforce ethernet driver didn't.  I remember the onboard sound worked but had problems detecting headphones plugging in, and rerouting audio.  I'm not sure what the current status is.

The current abi_v1 development trunk boot-iso has boot-time issues with the same machine and the native graphics driver.

USB.  My mobo has no legacy ports.
I don't know the marketing term for the nforce chipset, but Speccy reports it as MCP61.

OK, I ordered an MSI motherboard based on this chipset. It will accept my 15 watt A64 and has PS2 Keyboard and mouse connectors.
I decided to use a discrete graphics card so I'll pick up either an 8400GS, a 7600GT, or a 9600GSO.

Now I have to figure out what distribution to use and how to set up a system to dual boot Windows XP and AROS.

Thanks for the help guys.
