Was testing a WarpEngine card to confirm functionality & speed and noticed my mouse stopped
working. The mouse is fine. Is this common? Easy fix? Thank goodness for the
"Amiga" keys and arrow keys oh and the alt keys for buttons :).

The Warp card runs just fine... :)

Beuller?? :)

Same thing happened to me. Working one minute, power cycled and mouse is kaput...
With mine, its the vertical movement that doesn't work. I saw some articles on fixing the fuses and/or traces. I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.
-
Are both the buttons and movement not working?
-
meaybe battery is leaked?

If the mouse moves Only 1 pixel, then you blew the +5 line

Yes, it's relatively straight forward if you have a little electronics knowledge. I wrote this guide on repairing the A4000 mouse port (http://amiga.serveftp.net/JumpyMouse.html) which covers the common faults seen with this.

Why do I find the whole concept of a port dying to be hot and sexy? @_@

Thanks everyone...I'm hopeful I can get this fixed.

Did a visual of those chips.. and they seem easy enough to replace if needed. I do some more testing this weekend. Ug I really don't feel like tearing the whole machine apart, but oh well :).
Thanks again

You can do all of the testing from the top side without having to remove the main board from the chassis. So worst case you might just have to remove a few Zorro cards.
I have new ICs in stock in case you can't buy small quantities locally. Or do the entire job for you if you want to send the main board to NZ.

Hey thanks. Yes all the testing will be done with the machine intact. But if I have to start replacing
Chips/components then the mb comes out..

So you didn't freeze on Antarctica...Welcome back!
-
Thanks! Did freeze a bit, but I guess that's to be expected at -40 deg. Will probably end up back there for another year, so get the Amiga jobs in by September.
@Vlabguy1:
Unless you have to replace EMC filters on the bottom side, you should be able to do just about everything from the top side of the board without removal from the chassis. It's essentially a 5 minute job if you have the parts and tools handy.
