Yeah.
My new Amiga's graphics are messed. Kickstart 1.3 startup shows correctly, but when I run a game, half of graphics are white mess. Is this a chip problem? I just got cleaning floppy. I dropped 4-5 drops isopropylalcohol to cleaning floppy's white cloth. Then turned on my Amiga, and putted floppy in. After that I pressed 10 times Ctrl+Amiga+Amiga to reset machine. (It could access floppy drive with this way). Then took floppy out and putted game in. Game was still messed.
I have absolutely no idea what to do.
Thanks -Eemil

What game is it? Do you have more than 512 kilobytes of memory?
Some games have a problem with more 512k ram, some games have problem with the memoryexpansion type commonly found A500, and some games simply look like #%?$.
Try to write a little bit more and somebody might be able to help you more...

Hi!
Yeah I have 1mb ram and external floppy drive. I tried to run this game without expansion ram and ext. floppy drive. Seller said that this games is in perfect condition... There's video from graphics (video output is from monochrome out): http://youtu.be/c6aPGy46huI
Thanks all -Eemil

That really is weird, it looks like the video signal is OK because the kickstart screen is right, and the sprites are right as well, it's only the background graphics that are messed up.
I think you need to try booting something else. If other games are the same it might be a fault in chip ram or something.

The problem looks like not-compatible graphics mode.
I found ADF disk image, made a floppy disk and tried it on my 1.3 NTSC ECS A500 and it did not work. I tried NTSC and PAL, both modes did not work. My A500 is a modified to 1MB Chip RAM with PAL/NTSC switch.
Then I tried my NTSC A1000 with 512KB chip ram and it did boot to a star-field but later froze.
So, Since the game is from 1987 and German, I'm thinking that it should work on PAL with 512k RAM. Maybe OCS not ECS.
On A1200 I have exactly same visual problem. Graphics are distorted.
I hope it helps.

Yes, it's reported to run OCS, 0.5 Meg.

This looks like a case of badly-written software. Degrader (http://aminet.net/package/util/misc/Degrader) might help.
-
Might be stupid programming expecting just 0.5 meg Agnus.

Next I am getting Workbench disk. With that I could test is it the region problem. My Amiga 500 is from German so it is PAL... I think so.
And my Amiga has "silent" version of floppy drive. Does that mean that it can't write/format HD disks to Amiga DD??? And can't read then them if I write ADF to one of my HD floppies?
Thanks -Eemil
