Title: 1/2 Length SCSI/IDE+Ram (Buy or Trade)
Post by: joekster on January 31, 2012, 02:20:54 PM
I finally got a zorro-2 expansion chasis for my a1000, but it only takes 1/2 length cards, rrrrr...

So, looking for a drive controller with ram expansion. Some that come to mind would be a dataflyer or an ivs grandslam.

I believe I have an AdSCSI which is half-length.  Mine, in fact, is missing the extension bracket.  I do not think this card can hold RAM, however.

I'm working on a Dataflyer Plus SCSI card today in fact! Need to solder in a 4.7kohm resistor for the reset line and should be good to go. BTW: the Dataflyer Plus card pictured below came in several flavors: SCSI only, IDE only and SCSI + IDE.

This particular SCSI card also works with any Amiga, but sadly, it has no RAM. Will be nice inside my Dataflyer case that already has 2mb of RAM though.  :)

Still on the fence about maintaining such expansions on an A1000 though, so the cage, RAM and SCSI card may all be up for sale or trade someday as I either stick with floppies on this system or seek out an internal (or much smaller) hard drive solution.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I would really, really like to have some ram as well as the hard drive... a 512k a1000 is going to be limiting. If I can't find anything, I guess I'll go with just the scsi controller - better than nothing!

That escort2 looks real nice, if you ever feel the need to get rid of it, let me know.
