Title: PC-Task screen problem
Post by: dougal on January 27, 2012, 11:44:36 AM
I managed to setup pctask and install dos on a virtual hard drive. Problem is if i try run anything with graphics like a game pctask quits to a shell sort of screen and says something about a fatal error opening or using the screen.

Perhaps try looking at the screenmode options, maybe theyre set to something unusual?

I haven't used PC task for ages, but as I recall, that happens when you try to use (S)VGA screen modes on non-AGA miggies, so the screen modes are definitely worth looking into.

My Amiga is AGA and the screen mode (in pctask setup) is PAL Hi-res just like my Workbench screen mode. Also the game i am trying to run is Outrun (PC) using EGA/VGA setting.

The only other thing I can think of to check your chipram and make sure youve got enough to open the appropriate screen. Maybe set pc task screens to low res/low color just as a test.

You have to choose an amiga screenmode for every possible PC screenmode in Pc-Task. Make sure every PC screenmode has been set up in PCTask options.
