Well, I took a chance on an Amiga from out of state and got a hell of deal! Just picked up an Amiga 4000T, and it's pretty much mint.
Was loaded with a Video Toaster 4000 & other related cards that I pulled and plan on eBaying because I have no use for.
Has 16MB RAM, 1.2GB hard drive, CD-ROM drive, etc...
Here are some pics:

As mentioned in my Amiga 3000 rebuild thread, I am a old, "new" Amiga user who has been Amiga-less for ~20 years. I think I will be keeping and building on this as my main Amiga.
So, what should I be looking to do with it? What's are the "must-haves" for an Amiga 4000T?

One thing I wanted to mention... I grabbed this because it was a hell of a deal, but originally a 4000T did not interest me.
Now that I have it I can see why it is so desirable - it just seems rock solid. BUT, it seems like an Amiga "without soul" to me. New Amiga logo instead of the old C= style, standard (but decent) PC tower case, etc...
Just doesn't feel like an old-school Amiga to me! Doesn't have the same nostalgic value for some reason.

Congrats. Good luck with it. Huge Commodore/Amiga fan from the '80's here, and I can honestly say for me anyway the A4000T is all Amiga :). It was my first Amiga as a matter of fact, bought new from Anti-Gravity. But I kind of get your thought on the C= logo.
Have fun with it.

Cool, congrats! So, how much did you get it for?

Would you by any chance be the one that got really lucky and grabbed this one on eBay for $200?

Great luck on that find. I wish I had seen that before you got it though since it's proper home is about 20 miles northwest of you in Auburn ;)

Hah! So, is there any local Amiga community or user group left here in MA?
-
I don't think so but I know I've seen someone on here from Boston so there's at least three people left!
-
Well, please keep me apprised of any meet ups. ;)

Greetings, fellow Massachusetts Amigans! Been a while since I've seen any other Amiga.org users from this neck of the woods. :)

That's a clean looking machine, great find. I'm kind of with you on the nostalgia thing, I picked up an A4000D last year without really having seen one before that, and it just doesn't look too Amiga-like and give me that sense of nostalgia. Still hoping to score an A3000 again one day, I think I'd spend more time playing with it. Yes I'm shallow, looks matter to me :).

The a4000t was never a good looking machine. Amiga technologies logos were always ugly, however commodore didn't do a goog job either.

You can only feel nostalgia for something you remember from the past & they never sold in any real numbers. I wouldn't feel nostalgic for an a3000 either, I think I only ever saw one twice. The a4000d was more common at shows etc & I quite like the case design, so I have always been tempted. But they are still so expensive.

You thief!, i say this because you stole it at that price.
Excellent find.

I paid £750 for mine and that was a few years ago. Saying that it does have some quite special kit inside... I also managed to get an unused spare case just in case I broke that door off the front.

Well done and welcome to the 'T' club.

Ended up de-soldering the bad battery off this 4000T and replaced with one of these hooked to the motherboard's ready-to-go-connector:
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2715445&kw=2715445+&sr=1&origkw=2715445
I also installed a SCSI CF card reader purchased from Mech (www.a4000t.com (http://www.a4000t.com)).
Finally, I found that the CPU heatsink was alarmingly loose on this machine. I took the drive bay out and removed the heat sink. Bent the spring a bit so that it would make a tighter fit, cleaned the CPU/heat sink and applied some new thermal compound, and now it's tight as a glove.
I purchased a Dell ST2421Lb off of walmart.com ($199 new) which works pretty well so far with the 23-pin to VGA adapter.
