Title: Upgrade a3640 to 68060?
Post by: Astral on January 14, 2012, 01:10:00 AM
Has anyone done this? Heard of it being done?
Does it seem feasibly possible?

Check this.... http://www.emulation.com/catalog/off-the-shelf_solutions/production-test_adapters/upgrade_motorola/ based on what the specs/operation say about this convertor, would it be possible?

EDIT - looking at the price of one of them, could one be made cheaper and still be a worthwhile upgrade?

Interesting...and $500
I would love to try it.

Looks like it was discussed here before. http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=19612

Is it worth it anyway, with the 0 MB onboard RAM?

It depends how much you can get it for. I would get one if it was $20 just to play around.

Looks like the project was not completed.

I bought a 68060 socket just in case I ever ran into an affordable 68040 accelerator board.
But I don't think you can easily modify a 3640.

I think that says something about the difficulty of the project. Many of the obstacles are discussed by knowledgeable people though.
