Hey ppl,
I have installed a cd with lots of c64 games on my 1200 so I just need recommending what are the best (easiest to use, optimum compatability) c64 emulator for the 1200 which includes sound + joystick compatability (can't use keyboard v well - am not that old school :)
From what I remember on the pc there was A64 and frodo ?
-
Magic64 is the best!
-
It all depends on hardware.
Magic is good if you can find the keyfile
Frodo V4 is the most compatible but not very good if you don't have don't have hardware
Personally I use Frodo V2
I find it runs at a good speed on an A1200 with 060 and 64mb.
I have to run some patches though such as Fblit, Blazewcp and Speedychip

Ok I have 2 1200s
1 a1200 aca1230 @ 28mhz + 64mb ram
2 a1200 blizzard 1220 fpu 33mhz 8mb ram
Both os 3.9
Maybe my set up cannot cut it for frodo?
So I am better with magic64? Where do I download + buy the keyfile?

Not sure but it seems to be available on Aminet:

Keyfile may be a pain to find since the original developer has disappeared from the scene and his web site is down (ac-copy.com) but here is his contact info:

Keyfile can be found on the EAB file server in directory /Commodore_Amiga/App/Archive
:)

Ok thanks guys 4 ur advice.
If I can get a keyfile where do I put it once I've installed magic64? Somewhere in the magic64 drawer or in my wb devs/libs drawer?
-
Same drawer as magic.

Magic64 would be your best option. Impressievly fast for a c64 emulator. Just dont expect too much from it. C64 emulation is quite heavy vs. most other 8bit machine. On the 50mhz blizz mkiv '030 I had some years ago I had to set it to every 3rd frame, and it still rarely hit 100% speed (about 80% on average).
Even my 40mhz '040 I can only hit 100% with sound disabled on all but a few things.

Does it go 100% on an 060? I guess there is only one way to find out.
ok,
load "*",8,1 if i remember right.
