Title: Backdrop and colors eating away my chipmem
Post by: dougal on January 04, 2012, 02:31:00 PM
With a backdrop and 128 color graphics my chipmem has decreased to 1474288.

Is there a way and shove the mem it uses for color and bakdrops to fastram rather then chipmem?

Will it affect positively or negatively performance ?

Have a look at fblit from aminet.

I haven't used it on 3.1, but a google search does come back with some tutorials that claim to work on 3.1

Fblit (http://aminet.net/package/util/boot/fblit (http://aminet.net/package/util/boot/fblit)) can help alot, along with some other patches. think mcp has a few options that can help, too. I used to know quite a bit more about such things before towering the 1200. Think there's a few older threads on the subject here, though. Also, I recall some weird problem specific to 128 color displays, and remember using a 64 color for that reason (along with chipmem/speed conservation)
