It's been awhile since I checked Amiga.com, but today I went to Amiga.com to check out the site and was greeted by some kind of hosting site.
Is this really the end or my DNS screw-up?
-
Nope, it's being parked, all right.
-
It's fortunately not working here either.
Maybe they are about to release Snowman maker ver 2.0!
-
It's been extremely slow and unresponsive for a day or two now, at least for me.
-
It's a far cry from a few years ago when they tried to sell the Amiga brand for M$100. Now they can't even afford the web hosting!
So what's to stop anyone from taking over the address? So if i get the site address does this mean i am the owner of the Amiga brand?

No & they could probably take it back from you.
-
Maybe it'll go back to the rightful owners.
Spanish pornographers.

" The SuperHosts.net team consists of:
Ray Akey - System & Technical Admin - This guy does it ALL, on top of being the best coder on the planet. www.codemain.com"
There's the link between Amiga Inc. and the apparently current holder of the domain. Ray Akey used to be (?) webmaster of amiga.com
(What a f-ugly site superhosts.net has BTW. Looks like something out of the early 2000s).
-
Seems to be a problem with the host. Other sites hosted by them are doing the same thing.

Still is.

IIRC, I believe Ray Akey was a developer or purchaser of the CNet BBS program for Amiga at one time too. Small world.

And yet his linkedin says otherwise:
Past:
Developer / Webmaster at Amiga. Inc.

Damn it! We might miss some important info if the site won't go back online soon!

Maybe they need to change their provider if that continues, they are loosing potential customers. Few days down, that's not acceptable, especially in holiday season.

Oh no! This is just terrible.
It could make all the difference to our beloved Amiga, Inc.
Just think. All those lost royalties - from all those lost sales of tacky generic Amiga-branded tablets! How are they gonna be able to cover the cost of renewing their domain now?
(And I thought things were bad when they had to let go of amiga.net)

Spanish dating sites are lining up :knuddel:...
-
Not just spanish - former Amiga mag site from Germany:
Now a porn site. well..
-
Looking on the bright side - if they don't have a website up, they can't say anything, either. This is a vast improvement.
It has positive health benefits, too. It helps keep the collective blood pressure of of the entire Amiga community down! Doctors everywhere will be thankful.
Forget an Apple a day, cutting Amiga(Inc) out of the diet is a far better way to improve health!
-
who cares

Well until it returns, redirecting to C=USA!

Without linking again, obviously - which Amiga magazine do you mean (Name)? Just checked a few names from the top of my head but it's been neither of them.
-
hmmm....
let's sci-fi...
a.com is down because cusa bought ainc...

For scientific purposes I'm sure.
:D :D

No need to worry about Spanish lesbians or German porn; Mr Akey seems to have his own collections of naughty pictures / art ready for Amiga.com :/
-
The site is online... Then offline... And now it's on again.
Maybe it's a new million $ project kind of a sponsor game thing party comeback sensation wow nuke pow pow :-)
-
Maybe they have been trying to get the falling snow working on the front page with no luck?. Maybe Telnet Force crashed the $98 tablet they were trying to host the site on?.
-
i wonder how many hits a year it gets?
-
For scientific purposes I'm sure.
:D :D
You know, such kind of content is hard to find on the net otherwise... ;-) No, seriously, being editor of a german Amiga news-site it should be obvious that I'm interested which former magazine's website has been "recycled" to redirect to that kind of stuff. Because the biggest surprise to me is that there must have been enough links left online to that site to make it worth bothering with taking the domain.

Amiga Topcool
I never read any of their (very few) issues. With a name like that, you deserve punishment anyway.
-
@cgutjahr
Ah, thank you - never realized there have been printed issues of it.
-
Oh hell - it appears they're back again.
Sorry guys, but it appears they're not done trying to flog us dead horses.
-
Page is back but the shop is still gone......

From what I've been told, they didn't have anything to sell. The images of products were just that, images with no stock. iContain no longer has a license so it doesn't matter.

From Facebook:
I placed an order on on Nov. 23rd for two Amiga 7" tablets with cases and keyboards. The money for the order was withdrawn from my PayPal account on Nov. 25th. It's been over a week since I placed the order and I've not received ANY correspondence from Amiga to acknowledge the order or give me a ship date. These units are Christmas presents for my 2 kids. Starting to get nervous that I've made a bad choice buying from Amiga.
Amiga shop page is still 404, and I have yet to find one single person who received product.
Supposedly Amiga Inc. is mailing out an explantion on a form with what they call an "Amiga Incident Number".

Anyone from Amiga Inc. care to comment or dispute this?

Like McBill would spend his limited time at a free wifi site like McDonald's to read AO?

Well, since they claim another manufacturing run was needed, you would -think- at least one person on an Amiga website would have reported they received product by now, since that indicates unexpectedly high sales. Heh.

Usually, they'll park your site for 14 days before releasing it for sale.
