Title: Does anybody else think this Ebay seller is almost fleecing the amiga buyers?
Post by: Snoozy on November 23, 2011, 07:14:59 PM
Am i missing something here or is this price just ridiculous for this board:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Amiga-1200-TURBO-1220-Accelerator-Board-28mhz-Apollo-Blizzard-/110780762272?pt=UK_VintageComputing_RL&hash=item19cb0c48a0

Considering its a 4mb 28 mhz board. I don't think its even worth half of that.

I've seen many of his other prices for items are also not exactly competitive... :roflmao:

Only the most hard core of collectors would pay such a price for that.

Better off buying a modified 060 from Stachu on here. ;)

You think that's overpriced? Look at this...

This seller is currently away until 24 November 2011. If you make a purchase, there may be a delay in processing your order.
He must be dreamin'.  He's on vacation.

boh - if an idiot wants to pay his price, then why not.
anything is worth as much as someone else wants to pay - so good luck to those sellers.

nop, not buying ;-)

Yes, and just because he uses extra thick bubble wrap doesn't mean he can charge such prices :roflmao:

As for the spectrum she must think that because its in cardboard box its worth an extra £1000. She needs to check in at the clinic :roflmao:

Why do members here (and some other Amiga websites) continue to complain about eBay auction prices over and over again?

Is it just because they like to read the same ranting responses over and over again?

If the price is too high, then no one will buy it.  If someone does buy it then it is their problem and no one else, so why do you care?

If it is something you really want and you are not willing to pay that price, send the seller a message and tell him/her that you are interested, but that the price is too high for you, and if it does not sell, maybe the seller will contact you and accept a lower offer.  If not, just keep looking and stop complaining, it does not do anyone any good and only makes you look like children.

That's scary money alright - I picked a very similar one up about 2 years ago for something like £50 - and I thought that was starting to get pricey. That's the same seller though who was selling some game a while ago for ridiculous money!

@amigadave

It's true... That's the nature of supply and demand. It's a shame, but if people are willing to spend that sort of money...

Stuff is "worth" whatever people are willing to pay for it. (And the seller is included in that, his lowest sell price is what he's willing to pay to keep it)

If no one is willing to buy it at this price, then it's worth that much to the seller to keep it himself. So it is worth that much to him. If someone is willing to buy it for that much, then it is worth that much to them to buy it.

The sad thing is that there must be people out there who pay these silly prices, otherwise they wouldn't bother trying to sell them....

I'm betting that there's a fair bit of good, old fashioned, money laundering going on. It's the only way I can make sense of some of the asking prices that I see for somethings.
