Hi,
- I have installed EasyNet. I am able to ping from pc to amiga 1200 and vice versa
- Connection through the main router
- I have followed these guide lines on (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=59643):
I can confirm that EasyNet file sharing will work with Windows 7
Here are the settings I use in:
> Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Advanced sharing settings
o Turn on file and printer sharing
o Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can read and write files in the Public folders
o Enable file sharing for devices that use 40- or 56-bit encryption
o Turn off password protected sharing
I use a regular IPv4 address (static) for ease of connection and have a folder which is called Shared which the Amiga connects to with a guest account from EasyNet
- My router status page shows the amiga's static ip on connected devices; its device name: "unknown"
- The port two ethernet light is a flashing orange (the port into the amiga from is attached)
- The light on the 3Com adaptor is a solid green
- When I use ConfigHelp everything looks fine in there, I have used the correct gateway, the correct mask, i have chosen a hostname BUT i am unsure on how to get my network domain name - is it fine to use aol.com given that is used in the ISP based email address?
- The domain name servers are correct and I am using primary
- TCPIP settings MAXMEM set 256Kb, true: loopback, Debug SANA, Gateway mode
- Hosts comes up as the static ip of the pc with its name. though, I did need to manually add this; it said in the guide that you should have a loopback immediately when you open up the Hosts Manager. I did not.
Thank you for looking. Any help?

Well, there still exists the issue in the preceding post. But now, I have taken further steps back to getting this up and running.
For a reason, I wiped the HDD and reinstalled 3.1;
I installed the device drivers that came with the diskette.
I then installed EasyNet - just like I had done before. Everything installs fine until it asks me to register. Then, the "EasyNet Registration" GUI shows up and crashes the system. I have tried uninstalling by booting with no startup sequence and even on reinstallation this is happening. It did not happen the first time. The only thing that is different is that I am already registered due to the first installation.
So maybe after this new problem is sorted out, I can get back to the original one.

Thank you for looking. Any help?
Erm, help with what? You only list things that do work, there is not a single word about what does not work. So where is your problem?
-
Hey, the problem is that the gui crashes when it comes to the registration process.

This is a commercial product with support. Open a ticket at AmigaKit.
-
Thanks, will do.

This certainly is the right place to ask these questions. Amiga support will not reply, maybe they are busy or whatever, but now it has been approx. 3 months. I am not desperate, because I have been busy with other things in life, but I just want this sorted out once and for all, and it will likely be a an error on my part which is easy to be picked up by one of you:

Everything is installed once more; I sent this message to AmigaKit support ticket:

Hi,
I am able to ping my PC device using the amiga.
When I go into Host Manager I have to manually add my PC device, which I do. Then, I "Connect to..":
1. Whenever I click on the drop down box named "Share" the system crashes.
2. I ignore Share. I enter "WORKGROUP" in Workgroup (as this is what it is called according to Properties of Computer on Windows 7)
I enter "guest" as use
ame and I enter "none" as password. Then, I click "Connect". But I keep on getting the error: Socket access from rjd-PC denied! rjd-PC being the name of my PC.
What am I doing wrong here? Is it a some data field I have given wrong information to? Is it a problem on the PC end? The router end?
Please, help.
Thanks.

So, I am getting a socket access denied error, and when I click on the drop down box the system crashes. Additionally my config help file:

Some notes:
- I had to manually add all the hosts, even though the manual says I should start off with a loop back - there was originally nothing in the host manager.
- When I go to download updates it says it cannot connect to the server. I check my DNS addresses on my router status page, however.
Help, please: I can ping devices, but I just cannot connect to them or seem to download any updates.

I would try Miami. I've been trying to get Easynet online for months and am getting nowhere with it.
-
The update server for Easynet has changed address.
You can ask for a update floppy from AmigaKit to update your Easynet to the latest version. I had to do this to get mine to work with my USB Network adaptor.
Dave G
Edit: I found Easynet a lot easier to set up than Miami.

Thanks for you replies.
By updating to the newer version of EasyNet, I will conquer this problem of the application crashing when I click on drop-down in Share? I am just wondering if this update is specific to my problem... As, if it is not, even an update will not correct the situation. That being, I can ping devices using the Amiga, but I just cannot seem to connect to my Windows WORKGROUP.
And, as for asking Amiga.org to send out a new disk - I do not know how long that will take. The fact is, their support area is stagnant.

I suggest you switch to miami dx. I had no end of problems with easynet and raising a tcp stack.
With miami dx you can use the auto setup wizard or manually configure (which i did with some good help from other people)
Save yourself the blood pressure and ditch easynet :)

Okay, I have been busy with other stuff recently.
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=35373
This link, here, is seems to be a good guide.
I am assuming that there is no problem in using EasyNet's PCMCIA device with this software?

Hi there,
I hooked up my Amiga 1200 to the Internet recently. First I installed MUI and then I installed MiamiDX. I used the install scripts included in the archives.
I had to install the 3Com device for the machine to recognize the Ethernet network card. This device can be found here:
http://aminet.net/driver/net/3c589.lha
The beauty of MiamiDX is the Init-program. This one does all the configuration for you. :)
I tried using EasyNet first, but didn't manage to get it to work properly. :( I therefore went the MiamiDX route.
Hope this was of help. :)
Good luck!

I had to take down the security on the router to get my Amiga to connect. I am trying to figure out how to secure my network, and my Amiga, now.(http://eab.abime.net/images/smilies/frown.gif)(http://eab.abime.net/images/smilies/frown.gif)(http://eab.abime.net/images/smilies/frown.gif)

Miami DX is nice, but also slow. Switched to AmiTCP 3 and never looked back :) However, it can be a pain to set up if you don't know what you're doing, and it doesn't have DHCP.
-
Hi ,I am sure Easynet is very good if one could get it to work ,and I have had it working but I think it was more luck than judgement so I gave up and used Roadshow indeed I have it on my A 600 and my A1200 and it works brilliantly and all you have to do when you install it is move a file and it is amazingly fast ,but that's my opinion and I am afraid Easynet is not so Easy ,but good luck anyway ,best wishes Brian. ps takes a few minutes to install Roadshow
-
Roadshow is nice, but it doesn't run well on my system. Seeing how I only really needed it for the speed boost over Miami DX, I think AmiTCP 3 does the job quite nicely and free of charge :)
-
Easynet works fine, it is simpler than miami.
The only problem is as a friend said before in this topic that cannot be upgraded anymore.
We have to buy that floppy... it is not a money issue but this is not my problem so they should emailed us the updated software to solve this bug...
They know who paid for the card.

The only issue I have with this is perhaps something I have incorrectly configured.
when accessing a public web server by dns lookup I must provided the trailing '.' to the end of the url - as in the fully qual url.
This is a problem when clicking on links from Google.
It seems that without the trailing dot the ISP hostname gets appended resulting in a garbage url.
This is not just ibrowse. If I run ping http://www.google.com then it evaluates to http://www.google.com.my.isp hostname. without the trailing dot.
I wonder if there is any advice on what could be the problem? dns servers ? which I feel are correct.

Typically, if an address isn't resolvable the domain is appended (
set by the 'search' line in resolv.conf, I forget what the equivalent file in AmiTCP / EasyNet is). Although, I don't understand why the initial lookup is failing, I can only think it's something to do with the domain name set and/or the search order.
