Title: Windows Zip Disks
Post by: Gaeokerena on January 07, 2004, 09:19:51 PM
Hi

How can I read Windows formatted Zip100 disks in my 4000. It is set up to use its own normal zip disk (amiga formatted) but just shows a 'uninitialized' icon for the windows disk.

System: a4000d, cybervision64, ide zip drive, scsi hd etc

thanks

On www. aminet.net you could find this:
Z100.lha In this archive there are drivers to use Windows formatted Zip disks. If you have Amiga OS3.9 you only have to do the following things:

Go to youre storage drawer, dosdrivers and double click on ZIC.

I used a program called DOSMOUNT to do it, but that was for a SCSI ZIP drive.  Not sure if it would matter if you fed it an IDE device and number or not.

Seems like that was part of the old CrossDOS stuff.  There are also some files on Aminet that deal with mounting a ZIP drive as a CrossDOS filesystem.

What you want is 'fat95', that's what I use and it works very well, it works with my Zip 250 drives too! :)

The only thing you need is FAT95 from aminet, it is a great tool, and it has some examples how to set up it to read a Zip drive disk. Just read through the docs.
