hey guys,
i just wanted to let you know, that a new small Amiga project has started. Well just a website.
tata: http://amigamap.com (http://amigamap.com/)
Out of a discussion on a1k.org came the idea that it would be helpful to know, how many Amiga computer are still active world wide. The result is now Amigamap.com. (http://www.amibay.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
It would be great if you contribute to the project (http://www.amibay.com/images/smilies/smile.gif) thanks
If you find a bug or have suggestions or whatever. Msg me (http://www.amibay.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I have several Amigas plus a Sam460. Am I supposed to register each one separately?
-
It's the only way and you have to use a different email address for each machine.
Not the best method by any means. :-)
-
you should also be able to add the serial number of the machine, picture and info about the owner.... so it get a bit more serious. you can get a few good tips on how it is done over at http://c64preservation.com/

right now its like this. i will update this today, that you can register more in one time.

no, you use just one email. After you registered the first machine and confirmed it via email, you can login and register the rest of your machines without the need to confirm them any more :)

thanks mate, I have something like this in my mind. :) step-by-step :)

Is this a similar effort?

Good work.
It would be interesting to see all amiga compatible systems (i.e. morphos machines or aros ones too).
bye!:)

not directly, we don't see there how many machines are in each country. And also how many from each type of Amiga.
-
I spend the project today a little update. User have now an account page to manage there systems (basic for now) and user data.
all the best
Mario
-
There was a G Maps thing like this...
-
some small updates on the account page online. also you see now local and global contributors.
tonight goes more options (selectable specs) for each system in the account page online and will be shown also in a separate graph.
-
this map isnt going to contain any viable information except overall polularity estimations.
i dont even know how many amigas do i currently own, evcen if i count spare parts and disassembled systems out. and im not going to fill technical info for any of them, thats well beyond what i care or have time for.
-
this map isnt going to contain any viable information except overall polularity estimations.
and this is all about. to have a clou. It is not possible to do this 100% correct. But we are not millions out there, so it give us a small overview.
and im not going to fill technical info for any of them, thats well beyond what i care or have time for.
there is no need to do this. it is a plus not more.
guys try not to find something negative because of whatever, also when i can life well with critic. Like i said, we are not millions out there. And nobody force anybody to do it. BUT it would be cool if the most would contribute. ..maybe this helps also some company's to produce new hardware for the classic ones. I don't know.
-
Ok, interesting project. I just added a couple of my systems.
Found a slightly annoying thing (bug?) too. Seems I can only update information about one system at a time. When I press one of the 'Update' buttons, the information for the other system is wasted. Should be fairly easy to fix.
I like the idea of attached pictures, as with c64preservation.
Would also be interesting with information like where the system was bought, cost etc (if available).
-
thanks mate.
it will be soon updated, that you can update all systems with one click.
i put the idea of pictures on the todo list. first i have to figure out the best way to show the additional infos which the users put in.
price i don't know, maybe the year when bought? i think prices are not relevant in the Amiga world or?
-
i think prices are not relevant in the Amiga world or?
Nope, seems not, considering what the prices are for CSPPC on eBay these days. :)
I haven't bought a complete system for a while now (as I already have too many of them), but I always find it adds historical value to know where it came from etc.
-
I miss the option for MorphOS users (Efika, G4 Mac). Same holds true for AROS users.
-
Great project idea. Needs the option for adding multiple systems. Maybe a section for Kickstart revision along with motherboard revisions?
-
its on the todo list. a small update for now: you can select now a username
-
I just added all my original Amigas =)
-
thank you so far to everybody who contributed. It gives me energy to invest more of my rare free time. I got a lot of emails in the last 2 days to improve the site.
Also a lot who wants that i extend it to c64 and MorphOS. I have already an idea to implement this, but it will take a bit time (also because i don't want to mix the stats with non-Amiga computers). First i want to finish the account area regarding to the hardware specs and multiple inserts etc.
thanks
Mario
-
multiple inserts and updates now possible.
-
Small bug: can not do any updates to the Detail / Notes textarea of my last entered system. Updates vanish when 'Update systems' button is pressed.
-
what says the guru message?
-
Ah, didnt like the characters 'HKM...' in the serial number field. My mistake.
Edit: Maybe some problem with the serial number field. Can't enter anything there now.
-
can you give me your user id?
edit: if the serial is already in the database (for you are an other user), you cannot add it again.
-
it looks like Commodore placed serial numbers sometimes arbitrarily. So i removed the check if a serial already exists.

New features: If you select now a country, you will find now the additional link "Show on map" in the select field area.
this means: user need to put city and/or postal code in. The system try every minute to catch the geodata. If this fails you need to put them manually in.
When the data are in and a user select e.g. Canada he see where all user from Canada are located. User with the same geodata are combined. You will see this, when you click on a dot e.g. for Montreal/Canada. (its nice to see that I'm not alone there :D )
User without geodata are also combined in the center of an city.
I hope this goes near what some of you was missing.
Now I need a coffee :o

I question to all MorphOS users. How should the statistics be included? I cannot mix them because it makes not really a sense when somebody click here:
http://amigamap.com/computers.html
to see there e.g. also G4's. So I can do just it separately. A separate icon for MorphOS and and then the stats the same way like for the Amiga.
what do you think?
In general I need to mention, that there will we then also a compare stats between ALL os (Amiga/MOS) % in the world, country etc.
and on userpages like : http://amigamap.com/user/maw2k visitors will see all systems added by the user.
edit: I saw right now that the software is capable of separating it on one page. So first iI need to collect all info about AROS/MorphOS versions and hardware (incl. complete systems like AresOne)
-
I want to work open so I ask you guys if the way I'm think is ok to output the stats for MOS and AROS:
http://amigamap.com/index2.php
the user click on the legend and see the global stats.
and its just a start to integrate it, it will not be the only thing. When this is ok I will change the contribute part to open it also for AROS and MorphOS systems and continue to work on detailed stats for both.
-
Looks good. Just some entries of MorphOS capable machines are missing. I guess there is no need for listing all the Apple stuff by model. General entries like "PowerMac", "Mac mini", "eMac" and, in the not too distant future, "PowerBook" will do in my opinion. Also let's not forget Efika.
-
thanks. all already registered users can enter their MorphOS and AROS systems. That stats for it will go live in 30 to 60 mins.
-
ok stats are live. If now nobody put a MorphOS or Aros system in, I need to drink a lot of wine to drown my frustration :D
-
Rest for you have worked hard lol.
-
I tried to add my MorphOS systems but when I login and click on 'Your contributions', under my Pegasos II, the only OS's selectable are AmigaOS 1.0 thru 4.1 there is no MorphOS, or Aros, for me to choose?
-
if you run just MorphOS on, you have to delete the one you have already in (because its marked as AOS system) and add the system as MorphOS system, if you run both os4.x and MorphOS you need (so far you want) to add the system as MorphOS system additionally. All actions while you are logged in.
the only way to to bring out the stats well and also be able to separate them without 10000 selects.
-
Well, added my 3 MorphOS systems. The site is not very intuitive sometimes, probably because the concept changed after the initial design. For example separate system selectors: one above the chart and one inside the chart...
-
yes i know. I tried to improve this a bit. If you click now here:
Please select: Amiga - MorphOS - AROS
it will change the content in the select area for the country and the chart at the same time. The same thing its doing, when you select a Amiga - MorphOS - AROS system in the chart legend. I hope its a bit better.
-
New features: Extended userpages now online. Check as example: http://amigamap.com/user/maw2k and click in the legend on an available system.
As you can see, you can upload now max. 3 pictures for each system and see now also the details you putted already before in.
TBC. :)
ps. suggestions to the userpage are welcome. e.g. extend the specs for CPU, CPU speed, Ram size etc. (selectable in the user-admin and shown in the quick specs) > webmaster@amigamap.org (webmaster@amigamap.org)
-
Permalinks for each country map now available. e.g. http://amigamap.com/amiga-canada.html
alternative also with country ISO code http://amigamap.com/amiga-ca.html
-
New features: Country list now online to access easier the map for each country. http://amigamap.com/countrylist.html
-
2.8 Beta online
more of a bugfix release, and now with more permalinks > few js functions. therefore basically better to link (almost all sites).
e.g.
http://amigamap.com/global-amiga-graph.html
http://amigamap.com/global-morphos-graph.html
http://amigamap.com/global-aros-graph.html
http://amigamap.com/global-amiga-map.html
etc.
-
hey guys. Finally I decided to put the beta version already "live". There are a lot functions which still not work but the basic functions to see Amiga maps and stats are already implemented. http://beta.amigamap.com/ (http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fbeta.amigamap.com%2F&h=AAQGgCIJB&s=1) ....To register and update your profile you still need to use the old site.
-
I know I'm not the best in keeping everybody up2date but: Amigamap 'Workbench 1.0' is reaching the final state. 04.11.2014 .... 3rd anniversary of Amigamap ... it will replace the old site.

The Walker is listed on the active machine graph?
Have I missed something?
-
..at least one survivor has been made to boot...
-
Nice. I've registered and entered my various Amiga systems.
I see you have the Minimig option and I've registered mine. Is this a "catch all" for all FPGA solutions? I have a Minimig, FPGA Arcade, Chameleon64 and C-One (RIP).
It doesn't seem to want to save my location though. It stores USA, but not my city or ZIP, so I don't get a boing ball on Louisiana for the detailed map.

Password reset is not working on the AmigaMap.com website
