I've heard this it is possible to take Windows fonts and convert them so that the Amiga can use them.
Is this true, if so, how?

No need to "convert" them, really, just install this (http://aminet.net/package/util/libs/ttflib68060) and use the included tool to create .font and .otag files. I think it can also create bitmaps.
A tool like TypeSmith can convert, too.

Alternatively, embrace topaz 8, FTW :D
