I have ordered this...
then I began to notice that I can't find any of these elsewhere on the web. Is this for real, or are there going to be negative effects when I plug a PC keyboard into my 2000 with this?

I think this was for using newer PS2 keyboards with even older PCs. I believe you need a specific Amiga adapter that will remap PS2 keys to Amiga keyboard standards.
Doesn't the A4000 use a mini DIN connector for the keyboard? This might allow an A4000 keyboard to be connected to an A2000.
EDIT: Without verifying the power and gnd pinouts of the PS2 standard versus the Amiga, I wouldn't chance this.

This might allow an A4000 keyboard to be connected to an A2000.
That's what I fear this might actually be for and that this was a mis-post.

See EDIT above.

Crap...
well my fellow Ohioan, I hope others may know more than us on this piece. Hopefully the seller knew what he was talking about.

Do NOT use this adaptor for a pc to amiga.
You can use a amiga 4000 keyboard to a 2000 and 3000 with this adaptor.

Hello.
Your adapter won't allow a PC keyboard to work on the 2000, but it will allow for sure a LYRA PS2 adapter for A4000 to work on the A2000. I believe those can still be found at amigakit's.

Here is the link for Lyra PS/2 Keyboard Adapter (http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=lyra) for Amiga:

yeah, that adapter is for using newer Amiga keyboards.
just like PC moved to mini-Din, Amiga did too.
there are many pc keyb adapters on Aminet. it is a lot cheaper to build one than buy from amigakit, but takes some time, patience,...
another option is to look for them on amibay.

Just for information: The pinouts of PC and Amiga keyboards are the same, but the protocol is different. So, while the adaptor will work for large PC to small PC, and large Amiga to small Amiga, it won't work for PC<->Amiga, though it would be very unlikely to do any damage given the pinouts. Adaptors like AmigaKits are the way to go...

IIRC, these can be used to use a 4000 keyboard on a 2000 or 3000 but not a PS/2 PC keyboard on an Amiga 2000 or 3000.
