I emailed Variant Press about Brian Bagnall's new Commodore Book and I received this message today:
Hi,
Thanks for your interest in the book. There is indeed another Commodore book in the making called Commodore: the Amiga Years. Unfortunately, you'll have to wait another year as it is scheduled for a late 2012 release. We hope you will enjoy this book when it becomes available.
Variant Press will also be releasing eBook versions of Commodore: a Company on the Edge this year for several e-readers.
Best wishes,
Variant Press

Thank you for this invaluable info. I read his first book, first edition that I got from the library (took 2 months to get!) and today I JUST received my second edition used copy (excellent condition I might add) from a seller off Abebooks @ only $20 which I think was a steal seeing is it is so rare and hard to find. I can't wait to re-read it with the new additions. I will definitely be on the waiting list for The Amiga Years.

It's not that hard to find

The first book tried to be an all-in-one history of Commodore from the start to the end. While admirable, many items get left out.
Brian went back and expanded the book from the start to roughly the departure of Jack Tramiel.
The next book will pick up from Jack leaving and the arrival of Commodore to the end.
Both books are really good as a set since they have some information. The newer book has more interviews and pictures from people during its timeline.
I am looking forward to the Amiga book years for more expanded information.
Commodore had a lush history with many ups and downs. Being a fan I have so many questions. Most were answered by these books but I wish the books were in volumes like this:
Commodore Vol 1: Start of Commodore, 6502, Kim, Pets, Business Computers stopping before the introduction of the VIC-20.
Commodore Vol 2: VIC-20, Commodore 64, Commodore 64 Executive (SX64), Commodore 16, Commodore Plus 4, Commodore 128
Commodore Vol 3: Amiga, CDTV, Death of Commodore
Each of the Vols could also talk about Prototypes, what could have beens, and future designs. This would be particularly interesting in the Amiga days.
Brian has done a great job and I wish he would do the same history of Atari. I think that would be very interesting as well.
