Ok, this weekend I got my old A1000 working again and even added a hard drive just for kicks. The problem is that I need to transfer files from my A1200 to the A1000 via this nifty NULL modem cable thingy that I have. I have a terminal program on each machine (JR Comm on the A1000 and Term 4 on the A1200) but I have no idea what settings to use to allow these programs to communicate without a modem and only the NULL modem cable connecting them. Can somebody please help me out?
Thanks!

OK ... its probably been 10 years but I should be
able to give you the jist of it.
Have the software running on both machines.
( Oh yes,... I used standard serial cables with the
Null modem connecting them togather. )
I think I used 'Z-modem resume' so set the prefs
for that .. Use the standard "8 , 1 , & none"
Then as I remember all you have to do is set
the term prg. on the A1200 to upload the file you
want and the A1000 to download (receive) the
file.
If you have a setting for timing out it should be
set to give you enough time to get everything
setup and going.
I used to do it all the time when I was running
my bbs. Its really not that hard once you've
done it a time or two.

Sidewinder: just to remind you .. I hope you have taken into account that A1000 has different kind of connectors than Rest of Amiga.. so it needs kinda specific cable for (null)modem connection. If you'll try to use normal cable you are likely to accidently plug it into printer port..

As I remember it, my A1000 had a standard
23 pin serial port.
I used 2 (23 pin) serial cables with the Null
modem in the middle.
Worked great.

Perfect! It works like a charm! Thanks for all the help. I needed a cable with a different gender and it worked fine. Just like you said. Thanks again!
