MorphOS Team will be an additional sponsor for Amiganoid Event on 17th of September 2011 in Essen/Germany. This is the good news, the bad news is, there probably won't be an AmigaOne X1000 on display. Photos will be uploaded from time to time during the show. So, check out www.geobiz.de/amiganoid.html (http://www.geobiz.de/amiganoid.html) on a regular basis on that day, in order to keep uptodate ! Way better would be, to just join us, though.
However, here are the highlights:
- AROS running on ARM based Hardware
- AEROS: AROS distro using Linuxdrivers
- Emula: Emulation launcher for AROS
- AMC: Media Center application for AROS, AmigaOS (tm) and MorphOS
- IcAros: native AROS distribution
- AmigaOS 4.1 update 3 (e.g. on A1200)
- MorphOS (e.g. on PowerMac)
- iBatch live photo upload

Well done MorphOS Team, I'll be there :) No X1000? Not even a big surprise.
-
Looking forward to show reports. Bring your video cameras! :)
-
Great! Nice USB gadget :)

@Allanon
Thanx !
@pampers
if the event would have been one week later, we would have had an X1000 (Grammer ?).
@all
Besides Videocam, bring your photocamera as well. I will upload your photos right on the show !

If but you won't. I doesn't really matter to me to be honest. MorphOS Team is going to be there.

Good good! Glad to see some MorphOS news. I swear the Amiga community is against that wonder of an OS. Even the magazines I read don't cover it much. Sad sad!
It's really quite advanced you know? The future is here, and now, but hardly anyone wants to take the dive. Perhaps a few good demonstrations at the show will draw more attention to it...
...or another sale so I can pick up a Power Tower for my 2nd MorphOS machine. ;)

Let's not invite others to make this a flame war between the competing camps. It is a news item regarding an event and MorphOS is one of the sponsors.
I look forward to news from the show this weekend.

I will upload your photos right on the show !
Go go go! ;)

Hi there, posting this from RA-OWB running on OS 4.1.3 :-)

Nice! So you can buy new hardware? It got memory protection? Does it have flash? Must I go on? Sorry to destroy this but it is just as left behind as AOS 4 and needs to catch up. If there are no plan beyond old macs it has got to go x86.
And NO I don't hate MOS nor their users.

Don't you read the news? Win8 doesn't even support Flash anymore. And Micorosoft is switching to ARM from Intel x86 due to power consumption issues. The only issue left is memory protection which is so expensive in terms of memory consumption for the page tables, it's really not worth it.

right, here are the news:
All of us had a lot of fun, was very nice to talk to all the people. I myself found out, that -if you want to have an Amiganoid Notebook - MorphOS will be the way to go. From my impression it seems they are working hard in order to support all hardware incl. Powermanagement on those Notebooks. Great.
Seems, as far as I can judge, AROS is a sort of "comeback" OS for former A500/A1200 users. good fun !

You have proven many times in the past that your last statement is false.

Sounds like it was a great event. If only there was a similar event in the UK this year. :(

@gerograph,
Can you confirm what eliot is saying on MorphZone.org that some of the MorphOS Dev. Team members stated that the next release of MorphOS will be 3.0 and not 2.8?
In the past, several of the MorphOS Dev. Team members have confirmed that version 3.0 was only the working version number used for the latest work the Team was doing, and did not mean that the next version would be released as version 3.0. For example, when Piru first showed a demo video of MorphOS2.x running on a G4 PowerBook over a year ago, it had the version number of 3.0 and when Bigfoot showed MorphOS2.x booting on a G5 PowerMac, also over a year ago, it also had a version number of 3.0 (IIRC).

Well, it was not confirmed on Amiganoid, that next MorphOS release will be 3.0 (at least not to me). However on AW.net it was: http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=34264&forum=28
