Yet another "threatening" auction on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/PPS-2000-040-Processor-Board-Commodore-Amiga-2000-/160649582778?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item25677618ba
Buy and then leave negative feedback? Hmmm.
-
Tell the douchebag to go right ahead, we have FPGA amigas now... soon ;)
-
/sigh
He won't last long in his day job if it involves anything to do with selling to the public.
Sorry boss, had a few possible buyers on our new TV line the past few days but they just didnt bite. So i done the decent thing and put them TV's to rest.
Hi madam, this is a courtesy call as we see you are due a new phone from us next month and it wont cost you any extra than what your are paying now, but if you dont act rite now, we will up your monthly cost and destroy this phone! Might be hammer, might be a furnace, or i might just reverse my car over it.. Who knows. So make me happy and buy please!

Magnetic?
-
DoomMaster
-
Actually, he is not doing anything wrong and the price is reasonable. I think that the seller is just trying to make it perfectly clear that he is not going to play the "let's wait and see if he will lower the price" game that you guys know you love to play. If you want the board, then you will pay what it is worth, or it will be destroyed. Personally, I wish all feebay sellers were like this guy.
No, it is not DoomMaster, he lives in Beaverton, this seller lives in Hillsboro. You know, just because an Amiga person lives in Oregon does not mean that it is DoomMaster. The Portland Oregon area happens to be one of the Amiga capitals of the world. There are more Amiga owners here then you realize. I am even concidering starting an Amiga Users Group here.
-
DoomMaster
For the note, Magnetic hooked me up with free goods (as I did him), not sure why he has a bad rap on that end...
As for this board, how much should one expect to have to pay for it?
-
I hate that too..
There's a guy on Amibay selling some OLD Macs (a Mac 128K) and saying things like, "If it doesn't get sold, it goes to recycle."
Except he's asking $300 for it.
Now, an original working Mac 128k might be worth $300.. I'm not arguing price point.
But if I really am going to sell it or recycle it, then I'm posting it with a starting bid of like $1 +shipping...
(OK, you can't do that on Amibay, but ask your $300, and drop your price $50 every day it isn't sold or something)
People have the "right" to do what they want to sell things (within limits), but not only is that tacky; I don't think it fools anyone...
You know, just because an Amiga person lives in Oregon does not mean that it is DoomMaster.
Well said.. (Although I'd keep my eye on that runequester.. He seems pretty shifty!!! ;-) Seriously, Oregon has quite a few good members here.. And me too.. ;-)

Yes he has the right to do what he wants but his message is kinda sick....sounds like a threat from a kidnapper: Give me 250$ or the accelerator gets it!
Sorry our policy is clear: we don't deal with weirdos ;)

Buy this case of beer for 20 dollars or I'll drink them!

So I sent this guy a message:
Your listing...
...sucks.
Will be destroyed if not sold?
That's funny, because I'm a long time member of the Amiga community and I've found that a lot of those guys will give you stuff for free or at a really reasonable price just because they want to make sure it goes to a good home. You on the other hand seem to be consumed with greed.
The best of luck to ya, but I don't think you're post will draw much desire from most Amiga users. At least not the ones I'm used to dealing with.
I think maybe you should try to get a job with Apple. You seem right up their alley.

Here's the thing.
Stuff has value.
If I had paid money for a given item, and wanted to make money back off that item, that means I want to sell it.
If I happen to price it where nobody wants to buy it, I can do one of two things:
1: I can make the item a more attractive buy, whether by throwing more stuff in, or lowering the price.
2: I can throw it in the trash and be out whatever I originally paid for it.
-
DoomMaster
No question.

Your IP address matches that of a known DoomMaster sock puppet!

Really?! Doomy is here?!?
Awesome!
Crappy posts on Ebay, but those Tim and Eric-esque Youtube videos are totally top notch!!!
You look like the Train Conductor that history forgot, or the dude who's been living in his mom's basement since the Atari 8-bit came out, and has not stepped foot outside the house since.
Keep up the good work...
...stay off Ebay! At least till you get your generous Amiga spirit back...
...assuming you ever had it.
-
My first impression of who the seller could be when I read the E-Bay auction was the infamous DoomMaster. According to Mapquest Hillsboro, OR to Beaverton is only 10.5 miles.
Make sure before you make a bid that it is not Hans Campbell. His nickname is DoomMaster. There has been many instances where people have not gotten their product after paying.
-
DeluxePainter says it is not him but guess who DP is.

Does it rhyme with "nagmetic" ?

fixed that for you.

No

No
My bad. Just seemed familiar.

Looks like a good thread for a hangman game :) i will try "a"

Sorry did i miss something? Who's DP?

I'm guessing he's refering to DeluxePainter when he says DP
-
A quick look at the sellers feedback reveals that he may have sold an item to a member on this site "save2600"?. One more item saved from destruction :)
-
Thank goodness eBay doesn't allow the sale of companion animals. I'm listing 3 times, not lowering the price. If Rover does not sell, then......
-
Bidding has now ended on board. Looks like someone may have got his ransom from a kind soul. Travel well :)
-
Did he end the auction early? Doesn't it say 0 bids?
-

Yeah, was thinking or rather hoping it was just a bug. let's hope he hasn't decided to bring forward judgement day.

Off topic. What i meant was Transition implied he knows something and won't tell us?
Back on topic. Maybe the guy read this thread and took it down?

Sounds like he does but he wants us to guess. My money is on Doomy's half brother who he has never met, Gloomy.
Board has now been relisted. Destruction is still on the cards if it doesn't sell

Magnetic?
what is your problem runequester? What is your problem. No that is not me and I dont appreciate you throwing my name around..
To thread, what gives any of you the right to tell another man what he can do with his property and how and when or how much to sell it? What nerve.

You'll undoubtedly forgive me for assuming that a guy saying the same things you do, makes me wonder if it's you.

Now children... ;)

Desperate to sell...
Let him buy used stuff and soon he`ll be broke ;-)

Anyone is free to do whatever they please with the hardware they own. If they want to sell it for $$$, smash it to bits or bury it in the Earth. I have no right to tell them what to do with their stuff. However, I reserve my right to loathe and despise anyone who isn't community-spirited enough to do the decent thing.
If you want $280 for a PPS/040, fine, ask that much. Good luck to you. If you'd rather smash it than accept $100, you're a retard and need your head examined. If you really want to get top dollar for it, eBay does something called an 'auction', you start low and let the market decide how much the item is worth.
Of course, we all know that (a) it's probably Doomy and (b) the board will never get smashed, it'll go away and come back again later when he feels like trying again... Assuming the board even exists.
These people seem to believe that this will somehow improve their ability to sell things, as the guy who said above, it's almost like a ransom "Pay $$$ or the CPU card gets it!" The fact is that the Amiga community is sick and tired of being treated like fools and we won't fall for that sort of crap.

I once had a guy grab a free Amiga 500 with hard drive sidecar off a freecycle offer minutes before me - even though I was a regular Amiga user and he wasn't. He just grabbed it from the owner because it was something free and he wanted to fool around with it to see what it was. I appealed to the owner that I was an actual Amiga user but I accepted it as "fair is fair" - this guy beat me to the punch.
But then after a week had passed the guy who received the free Amiga 500 with hard drive got bored, or realised he couldn't actually use it. He then e-mailed me and offered to sell it for me for $35 or he was going to put it out with the garbage (destroy it).
I bought it from him just to save it --- but I'll never forget what a pricky thing that was to do.

@Seller
You will sell me the card for $100.00
This is not negotiable. You will sell me the card or I will destroy the $100.00 and then you will never ever get it.
You have 15 minutes to comply.

Does anyone remember the guy who ransomed that rabbit online and said he`d eat it if he didn`t get some amount of money. I can`t remember what happened now but it was funny.

Oh, now that is amazing! It's tempting to hit the "ask the seller a question" and make that ultimatum, but I suspect the irony would be lost on him...

He will have to smash it because he can't uses a gun like in the pic, remember his stuff is "Mil-spec".
I find it amusing that 'someone' from the mil-spec center of the universe would join the forum just to defend this thread about him(self).
Anyone can do whatever.... What I do is avoid anyone who wants to Do me or you. First, I don't give money to people who think I'm desperate enough to take their crap and second, I won't bother even looking at the stuff that new sellers from Oregon post unless I know them.
-
Looks like my original assessment was on the money. heh heh
You missed ;)

Hi, I am interested in the Amiga hardware.
I will offer only $50 on this processor board, If you do not sell at this price, this hard to get monetary denomination (In this economic downturn) will be destroyed.
-
somone already done that joke on this very thread :)

This is just disgusting behaviour imo. I hope people boycott this guy from now on even though this idiot threatens to destroy it.
Some people are just truly rotten...

I know, but I feel $100 is too generous for him, it had to be rewritten for a $50.
-
I sent the seller this message:
Doomy,
Please do not destroy Amiga gear if it does not sell. That is not cool. You know that they are rare and hard to find and not produced anymore, so why do such a foolish thing? I will take it off your hands if need be.

And okay, own up, who paid $249 ? (1 Bid).
