(in the past I only used CED and similar)
I need a good program that is simply to use, and does not need a mouse.
preferably something that can be easily converted to word/libreoffice later.

If yo uwant a text editor, you can't get better from CED;
If you want a word processor prog, as you said, I suggest Final Writer 5.

Final Writer 97 can do RTF files at least. Earlier versions might be able to as well.
It mostly assumes you have a mouse though.

hm, yes CED is excellent. but what I want is to configure Amiga as a simple typewriter for my father.
he never used a computer before!
I think the (proportional) fonts will look better on screen (easier to read..) with 'real' word processor. and it could do 'what you see is what you get' (print view). and I need to use some non-latin characters, not sure how CED would handle those.
also, using '060 and PIV to run mostly just CED seems like a waste :)

I started my Dad out on an A500 probably 15+ years ago when he was in his late 60's and had never used any computer before. He then graduated to purchasing his own A3000 with my help and used that for a couple of years before finally moving on to a PC and Windows because he lived too far away for me to help him stick with the Amiga. He now has an old iMac he found on eBay cheap, and uses it every day to send emails and do some browsing on the Interweb. He also used Final Copy, then Final Writer on the Amiga before moving on to other OSes and platforms.

Best bet for word processor is probably Final Writer for the Amiga. It was one of the last ones being supported so had the most chances of having the ability to save in formats most easily imported to modern PC or Mac work processors.
Wordsworth was another that was supported later in the Classic Amigas life but not one I was familiar with. I used Final Writer (and still have it in fact).
Both likely have a lot of keyboard shortcuts and are WYSIWIG.
After posting this I did a search for Amiga Wordsworth just to see what i might find on it and found I mentioned much the same in my article written way back in '98:

For direct MS Word compatibility, i use Word 6 for Mac on a Shapeshifter session.
On the amiga side, i also use WordWorth and Excellence 2.0 but the *.doc compatibility is a problem (though WW can do RTF).

might consider (truly old school) amiga word perfect. Office probably still supports the file format.
Word Worth 7 does pretty well with RTF files btw. Final Writer 97 can do it too, though some times the formatting will be haywire

I've tried installing wordworth, but decided to stick with CED after all. its fastest, most reliable, and I love it.

Back in my day, when we wanted to edit a text file on a floppy, we did it one byte at a time with magnets!!!!! ;-)
