If you need IDEfix and/or want to continue using it, download IDEfix97 from Aminet, unpack it to RAM, open IDE-fix/Register and run the Register program to enter your key number.
If you want to get rid of IDEfix, open Devs/DosDrivers and drag CD0 or EMERGENCY_CD (whichever exists) over the Editpad icon in AmiDock in order to edit it. In the text change DEVICE=atapi.device into DEVICE=scsi.device. Then delete all #?atapi#?.device from Devs and IDEfix and LoadIDE from C.
If you do the latter, you cannot use the second channel of a 4-way IDE spliter any more. Both drives (HDD and CD) need to be connected to the first channel as master (Unit=0) and slave (Unit=1).

Well i dont want to delete anything, i just want to register my IDEFix 97 i have an original floppy so would it work if i just re-installed IDEFix97 from the installer on the floppy?

You just need to enter a serial number. Doesn't the pop-up nag requester have a "Register" button or somesuch? I seem to recall that.
If not, and to minimize the risk of overwriting anything, just extract the archive from Aminet and run the Register tool instead of the installer.

no there is four tabs that say: yes, no, maybe, never. i will give the register a go and let you know how i get on :)

One possible problem is that the key you are using isn't genuine and don't get me wrong with that. I think that it has been some years now that you can't obtain a key for IDEFIX so this fact raises the question about the validity of yours. Another guess would have to do with the upper/lower case letters. IN the past, while I was using a key that was tested to work before with IDEFIX, after a reinstallation of the Workbench/Software I encountered problems similar with yours. I wasn't respecting the lower/upper case letters and this was the problem. Check this out.

Well I ran the register and I no longer get the pop-up many thanks every one :)
