Hi Guy's
I have been busy to build my FPGA ARCADE inside a A590.
Try to get old and new hardware together.
I like to share some pictures from my build with you.
I use the old A590 Housing and retrObright it and repaint the bottom side.
Inside the FPGA arcade replay board and also the AXT PSU controller from mikeJ (thanks mike).
The PSU itself is also inside it's A mini ATX PSU.
Also fitted in is a 2.5 1TB HDD, (The hard drive is not working on the replay but will be when the daughtboard will be available).
You can see the hdd/USB cable sticking out the case now for access to the PC.
I also put inside a temp meter C/F just for fun.
The case fan is adjustable in speed and also the cpu fan later on for the Dboard/ 060.
still to do: I have to bundle the wires (looks like spaghetti)
The daugtherboard will fit inside this case.

Some more snaps ;-)

Too cool, I love seeing interesting casemods using loved old hardware boxes.
-
Superb, U Gotta get those power and HD LEDs happening...

Me Gusta!
My A600 is terminally dead. I wonder if it could be used to fit this machine. How cool would that be?

That would be uber cool.
Only trouble how to connect the Keyboard.

Very nice clean and detailed mod mate! Congratz!
I really hate seeing butchered hardware with ugly mods inside and outside :) Your own is very well done aesthetically and practically \o/
Btw I have the same Temperature control bought some time ago (when I wanted to check if I would like it in my A600).
Keep up posted for more pr0n progress!

Nice mod, man. I just used a plain 17x17cm black plastic mini itx cabinet myself (yes -- I was lazy this time. Hehe).
I am also looking forward to getting the daughterboard. Then I will fully mod the casing and minimize the box physically and mount it on the back of the monitor :)

It have take me a few hours, but the results are nice.
All stuff in a A590 Case :-) It's all Commodore again, remembers me on my first encounter with the amiga 500 with A590 HD aside ;-)

That's a great case! I'd been wondering if the board would fit inside an 1010 external drive case. Maybe even use the existing floppy cable as a breakout cable for most of the connections. Would be even more awesome if a some point a daughter board with floppy connector could use the drive. It would be like some kind of mini A1000!
Anyway, that's my first post on here finally done despite lingering for about 12 years.

Slick!

So your the silent type then ;-) LOL
1010 External I think it will fit (not sure, i don't have a 1010.)
But that are also nice cases.
And O Yeah, Welcome on Amiga.org VuData .... :-)

We should be able to connect the original keyboard to the top patch pins.
I'll look into the protocol.

Please do... I'd love one too, and have been thinking of picking up a case or a dead machine ever since I saw the dimensions of the Arcade. Either A600 or A1200. I prefer the aesthetics of the A1200 and it has more nostalgic value for me (never owned it, but drooled over it :) ), but it is compelling to have something as small as the A600.

Keyrah solves this issue. At least that was what I had planned for my A600.

That is true. Yet, it would be cool if we could connect the real keyboard onto the pins on the replay board directly aswell :)

Does anybody have any schematics of the A500/1200 keyboard?
I need to see the matrix. It may be possible to use the p3/p7 ribbon cable connectors for this.
Cheers,
Mike

Not only cool, but also budget friendly. But it is good to know, that if direct connection will not be possible there is still teh Keyrah option.

Great job Wiz! I'm drooling over this board, for which I had an opportunity to snag one a while back from Mike, now I see what you are doing with your board and I'm regretting my decision. I want one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:hammer:

Thanks, but that is the motherboard end. I need the schematic of the keyboard connector to the key contacts etc. I guess this has been reverse engineered already?

@Firedaw,
But no drooling on this boards you get big short-circuit ;-)
@ MikeJ
If you get keyboards from the 600/1200 going on the replay don't forget the HDD_act. header IO on 0v/9 just like we talk about (it's a must for original cases) :-)

@ wizard66
:insane: crazy cool
I'd love to get the old soldering iron going again with this mod if I can find an old A590 case as I don't have the guts to mess with my original A590 with its whopping 20MB XT IDE HD !

Ask on English Amiga Board (eab.abime.net) - I know there's been various threads about keyboard mods and repairs there before, and the site is full of people who do various hardware projects.
