Is there any reason you need to maintain a block of this entire ISP?
http://goo.gl/342Jb
Its not affecting me, but is affecting folks I know.
Thanks!

must be one of the counter-franko measures.

If they don't want him on the board so bad it seems IMO to make more sense to permaban him rather than block an entire ISP...
-
Blocking a potential 3million+ viewers for one person really doesn't make any sense. I hope this isn't the case.
-
I checked and no one at DFX did this. If any Amiga.org mod did this they should remove it ASAP. The site owner does not want extreme measures like this taken. Whoever did this please remove it now. This is not authorized.

it was probably the fat boy.

if you mean Wayne I doubt he would do this.
This site is a million times better without franko

Sky is one of the biggest ISP's in the UK, must be a lot of members and visitors can't access this website.

Even if that were true (it's the opposite of true,) screwing over a whole ISP with a lot of users just to get back at one person? Not cool.

You checked if there was a block in place or only if DFX admins blocked something?
-
"This site is a million times better without franko" I disagree & it would improve mightily if you got a sense of humour & stopped having such a downer on him.
Blocking a major ISP is the final straw. Obviously the mods here are incompetent, so please delete my registration here. I won't be back.
-
Let's keep the wild speculation to a minimum.
The issue is being investigated. I believe that there may have been a class C IP address ban put in effect some time before the hosting upgrade, though I am a little hazy on the specifics.

Your prerogative, but try not to hold the moderators responsible for what is likely to be a server configuration setting.
Until we have gotten to the bottom of this issue and have some updates either way, I'm locking this thread.

Problem should be fixed, please test and report back.

To keep the discussion on-topic. Side debate about how much better the site is or is not as a consequence of someone's ban and the typical flamebait that follows is not remotely relevant or useful.
If you want to enjoy some conspiracy and finger pointing rather than address what boils down at the end of the day to a basic site configuration issue, might I recommend the following thread?

I am a SKY customer. When I try to visit the site I am presented with a notification that says my IP address has been banned. I am visiting here now via a proxy.
My SKY details are as follows:
IP Address: 94.13.214.2
The ban has only been in place for me within the last couple of days.

Any news on this?

Any news on this?
Sorry about that. It's possible there was more than one range blocked. I'll make sure the admin are aware there are still issues.
-
Should have been fixed. Are you still having the issue?
-
One point of clarification, just for the tech side of me..
If any Amiga.org mod did this...
We mods don't have server access nor access to a block list through vBulletin.
Just wondering if the MODs actually have access to perform a "block"??
Judging from what Argo said, they couldn't if they wanted to???

As far as I know, that's correct. Probably just a spot of confusion as there are two built-in control panels for the site (a standard vBulletin configuration), one for moderators and one for admin. Moderators can ban individual users and look up IP addresses to spot possible sock puppets but don't have access to actual IP range blocking tools. The admin control panel contains everything that the moderation one does, but many additional tools besides, including the IP range blocking tools.
I'm guessing perhaps Transition posted that in a hurry, or has only ever used the admin control panel and was thus unaware of the limitations of the control panel that moderators have access to. Other than the number of controls available, they tend to look very similar if my past experience of vB admin is anything to go by.

Yep it appears to be fixed for me now. I've deliberately made certain to leave my router switched on too so that I would not be assigned a new IP address by SKY. At this time my IP address is still 94.13.214.2, which is the same address I previously reported as being blocked, and now I can access the site with it.

I'm on Sky, but haven't logged in to post for a long time. However, I'm not using a proxy and I'm getting into the site fine.
Cheers,

Just testing that I can now post, not been able to get in for a while, but if you can read this, I obviously can.
Thanks to Karlos for looking into it.
