Title: Disasembly
Post by: dreamcast270mhz on August 05, 2011, 04:44:28 PM
Was looking at my old Sega Genesis yesterday, and I had a thought:

Both the Genesis and Amiga use 68k code.

Which leads to my question:

All legalities aside, would it be possible to disassemble a Sega genesis game and recompile it for use on an Amiga? (lets use the A 500 for simplicty)

I have one game I would love to attempt this on, it is Herzog Zwei, an old RTS game for the Genesis. But, I don't know where to start or if this is even feasible. (knowing my luck, I'm sure it isn't.)

Most of the disassembly would be useless because the Amiga and the Genesis, aside from the 68k chip,  used very different hardware for video display and audio.

Herzog Zwei, I have not seen that game since 92. A sega emulator that has uses a real 68k maybe better.
I know on the web there are home brew sites for Sega.
