Title: KryoFlux: Bring old game disks back to life
Post by: mr.vince on July 12, 2011, 01:30:55 PM
Broken original game? Used a virus scanner to replace the allegedly dangerous non-standard bootblock? Bought it from eBay just to find out it was "fixed" by copying a crack over it?

Don't worry... you will be helped!

Finding IPFs is a different (and more challenging) matter, however...

I think they are there if you know what to search for...

I'll have to test that theory out, my Kryoflux is on order.. ;-)

Due to copyright reasons we aren't allowed to distribute these images freely. But there are people working on this, e.g. AmigaFuture: http://amigafuture.de/downloads.php?cat=6

Lemon Amiga also has a section for this: http://www.lemonamiga.com/links/index.php?genre=19

We ourselves give images back to contributors and try to help people that deliver proof of ownership.

Totally understandable..
I'm glad there are resources out there (this is the internet after all).

My slight concern / question will be about NTSC availability.

I noticed with most of the ADFs out there, almost all of them are PAL, and the NTSC versions don't, in general, seemed to be named so that you know that.
From an ADF point of view, it's no biggie as my A1200 can handle PAL, but the originals I have that I will want to fix will be NTSC..

We'll see how it goes..  I'm looking forward to having fun, also for my C64 and other retro machines (mostly C64 as I don't currently have an X cable (and a parallel port to hook them to) to create images..).

Games listed in our DB (note: no download, just dump information) are marked with the region they were sold for.

Many of the EU titles should work on NTSC machines as well because they are identical. Regardless of this, titles specifically originating from the US are marked, too.

So it's possible they work vice versa. We usually only can guess or look at the code.
