If they actually ever finish this film I'll buy it. Asking people for donations or to pay for the dvd before its made is kind of silly, especially in the world of amiga vaporware, it may never get finished.
KUDOS for discreetFX for supporting it though.

A very kind gesture!

There's no harm in pledging/buying ahead of time. If enough money isn't raised by Jul. 20, 2011 your credit card doesn't get charged - you lose nothing. If enough money is pledged are credit cards get charged and we get the movie.
More then worth it in my book. I've made a pledge and i encourage everyone else to as well. The way i see it i would have never become a computer programmer without the Amiga so i owe it way more then what i pledged.

Great works guys!

As previously pointed out*, there is no subject header on the DiscreetFX contact page.
Still entered... hopefully lol.
*I remember having this problem before with this - long ago, cant mind the specifics.

You will need the old crusty obsolete thing called Flash until we upgrade the site to HTML5.

Very cool of them! I only wish I had the other $5000 to make sure this film gets made, not so much so I don't loose my money, but so that the Amiga, it's history (the history of modern computing), and those involved do not go forgotten without a voice...
...not unlike the true history of Hip-Hop.

...not unlike the true history of Hip-Hop.
Not sure I really get the parallel there..
I mean, yes, Jay Miner is Rick Rubin obviously..
I'm guessing R.J. Mical, Dave Morse, and Carl Sassenrath would be Run DMC.
After that tho, it's gets hazy for me...
Would Dale Luck be Curtis Blow, Melle Mel, or Grandmaster Flash?
(Bill Gates as Eminem is too obvious, even for me.....)

EXACTLY my point! Hip-Hop did not begin in 1979 with Rapper's Delight, nor did it begin in the 80's with Def Jams records or Run-DMC, though they were an amazing group till they teamed up with Kid Rock (Oh the shame).
Nah, actually Hip-Hop's origins could more accurately be traced back to about 1970 with Gil Scott Heron and The Last Poets, followed shortly after by break beats and styles of Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa and the like.
There is, like the story of Amiga, so much to tell, and so much that the captains of industry will not tell as it (not unlike many sold out things being churned out by mega corporations) was actual grass roots stuff and from the heart, not for the pay check, for at the time there was no pay check to be had, Hip-Hop was shunned, ignored, though of only as ghetto music.
In fact people like Afrika Bambaataa and the like saw early Hip-Hop as an alternative to the disco parties that the poor colored people of New York were not invited to. They used it to form their own thing, and with that they pulled upon the energies of local gang bangers and the like to throw underground Hip-Hop parties and raise money to put back into the community. Unlike rap today, Hip-Hop used to be about intelligence, pulling together the community and family, rising against violence, self dependance, non-reliance upon the main stream, and just plain fun.
As for break dancing, well that traces back to India's Yoga, and the complex dancing of African tribes which many still practice to this day.

That all depends on how you define the beginnings or origins..
In keeping with the Amiga metaphor, are the "origins" of the Amiga Jay Miner's designs for the Amiga, or do you go back to his work at Atari on the 8-bits?
You could easily go back even farther to trace the origins of the origins..
As the phrase hip-hop (IMHO) was coined by the Furious Five, and that is when (again, IMHO) the movement started to take off, I choose to place it's origins there..
Obviously, you can go back farther, and if you are doing so, stopping at the 70's is just a pause in the line.. Spoken word poems go back much farther as the origins to those origins... ;-)
Oh, PLEASE SUPPORT VIVA AMIGA!!!!

You can make both. :)

The goal was reached and before the deadline. DiscreetFX got it past the $20,000 mark and then we again got it past the $21,000 mark. We hoped this helped in a small way and look forward to the completed film. A talented group has been assembled to create the movie so it should be grand. Everyone should continue to donate, it will only make the film better.
