Hello,
Many thanks to the answers for "Best Car Racing", now I know what games to look for.
Now I am also looking for the "Best Space Shooter". I am meaning games like Wing Commander.
Anyone?
Thanks,

Just to clarify since I didnt mention at first. I mean 3D space shooters only... Like Wing Commander. :) (This isn't in response to previous replies, the ones mentioned very well may be 3D also, but I just don't want to hear a bunch of 2D scroller type games.)
Thanks,
Neofree

There weren't that many to choose from that were decent enough in 3d. I've never played freespace on the Amiga, but its great on the PC.
I would have to say a close call between Wing Commander and Frontier: Elite 2
Cheers

In that case you're looking for the best space-opera game ;)
What you're asking for by asking for best shooter is games just like that.. Disposable Hero, Xenon II Megablast, R-Type etc :)
(they're far more fun than Wing Commander by the way ;))

Those games you mentioned are they 2D or 3D?
I think the first 2D Space Shooter I've played is Galaga (arcade) and if you count Asteroids. The first 3D space shooter I've played is Star Wars. Once having this I had a hard time going back...
Thanks,

That's gotta be Freespace...can't wait to see how it runs on the AmigaOne... :-D

Doesnt Freespace require PPC?

> Doesnt Freespace require PPC?
Nope. From the Hyperion webpage:
Technical Requirements
PPC processor or 68060
Graphics-card
3D accelerators supported through Warp3D
Soundcards optionally supported through AHI
64 MB of RAM (min. 48 MB free)
8x CD ROM
Still, if you don't have a 3D card, you might need a PPC for the W3D software renderer, though...

Wing Commander (not real 3D, but...).
Elite 2 Frontier coming some bit behind. Old StarGlider 2 was
nice too. Haven't played FreeSpace.

Freespace is out for 68k IIRC.
You might need a voodoo or permedia card though..

2D of course :)
I also forgot T-Zer0 from Clickboom. Now THAT is an awesome shooter. Makes a humble Amiga seem like a NeoGeo ;)

Only got a 1230 (40mhz) here. with no plans to
upgrade soon (since i just got it).
If the A1 drops the rates of A1200 PPC hardware, I'll get that next year. :)

Certainly there has to be something other then Wing Commander and Elite 2. I did some searches on the net and found a couple of games that look pretty neat but have not had a chance to try them.
Someone has tried some of these I'm sure and has an opinion...
What is the best 3D Space Shooter that will work on A1200 with A1230 40mhz accelerator?
Thank you,
