Can I? I went to the page and I noticed you can't just register over the web anymore and I'd really like a Key for my Amiga and MorphOS machine.

If you can not, you still can IRC with BitchX (http://aminet.net/comm/irc/BitchX-11.lha).
It performed very well on my Amigas with the ANSI emulated console.
It's an UNIX app, that is alien to the Amiga interface (text based only), but it is very good.

Amirc is the best IRC program...better than those on windows or linux
you can't compare that bitchX crap with AMIRC
anyways IRC chat is out of tendency now
today nobody chat there
were populars before 2000-2001 year
-
Exactly. I've used BitchX as well as Wookie Chat, and while both are great in their own right, I'd still rather have AmIRC registered on my Amiga and MorphOS machine.

I agree with you about liking amirc, but many of use still use IRC daily.

Ya, what kind of person thinks IRC is dead?!?! Must be a Facebook junkie.
Oh wait, I use that too. ;)

anyways I wonder which IRC channels are popular today or even a bit live

btw, on vapor site there is email to contact amirc' author Oliver Wagner...write him something...maybe he can sell you a keyfile
-
Or just buy cheap a NetConnect CD and you will have keyfiles for most of those internet programs, including Amirc.

IRC is and always has been a great ad free, alternative to torrents and P2P for one, so it's alive in kicking in that respect. Likewise there are a ton of servers still out there that people use all the time fro development projects and the like. I.E.

My E-mail bounced back.

Some minutes ago I downloaded the OS4 native version of AmIRC that does not need registering. So far it is stable and works. I can not test it much since there are not much active IRC channels nowadays.
My /CTCP version reply

From the changelog:
- Replaced all "MorphOS" in catalog strings with proper "AmigaOS" ones.

So, its a port from MOS then?
Probably someone with the sources shall also port it to AmigaOS 3, since it is no longer on sale.

AmIRC was ported to MorphOS years ago: http://www.biclodon.com/software/amirc/
Apparently the author based his work on the MorphOS port.

Depends on the agreement I guess. You should ask the author of the OS4 release.

If you ask nicely at vapor.com they will email you a key for free,
a friend of mine just got one last week.

OS3 port would be absolutely cool.
-
AmIRC on AROS would be nice too.
-
But when I e-mailed them my E-mail bounced back. Also it would be GREAT to have AmIRC on AROS!
I think I'll just head over to EAB and request a key there.

It is easy to see from other chatters to see if you are using legal key or not. I remember people being banned for using public keyfiles 11 years ago. Oh, the memories.
-
Grrr, well what the fuck! Vapor needs to fix there damn e-mail then if they expect people to do this the right way....
grumble grumble grumble. :)
Anyone know where to find any of the Vapor guys outside of E-mail then?

There is no longer need to register it, as AmIRC is now freeware.
You can download both AmigaOS (68020+) and MorphOS (PowerPC) builds from: http://biclodon.com/software/amirc/
Enjoy!

Ya, but the cut off after 30 minutes or what ever. Annoying. I also downloaded that Net Connect CD, but can't find the key on there either. :/
