News from Andy (broadblues) from amigans.net this morning:
This is great news for OS4.1 Classic users indeed !
"I'm pleased to announce a new update to my port of Blender for Amiga OS4
The new update address a couple of bugs, and deals with some issues experienced when working in low memory conditions. Blender is now usable on Classic Amiga running OS4!
Download from os4depot now (http://os4depot.net/index.php?function=showfile&file=graphics/raytrace/blender.lha) (Release in still in upload queue at time of posting this news item.)
Also I have added some advice for Classic users to the blender for amiga OS 4 page (http://www.broad.ology.org.uk/amiga/blender/)"

Ah, ok - I thought for a min it would run on 68k :)
Good news anyway!

Blender now available for OS4.1 Classic users!
OMG! *Why*?!

Well that would make *even less* sense!

Because it's fun to do "modern" stuff on 1993 machines and I guess that it can help to learn the basics of modelling (as long as you don't render...) :-)
I guess you could run Blender on your Classic thanks to MorphOS 1.4.5 (at least the previous version worked on my Efika, a GRex with Voodoo should be able to handle it).

OMG! *Why*?!
because you can !

OMG! *Why*?!
I'd have to say "Why are you here" if you even have to ask that?
-
I guess takemehomegrandma prefers Maxon CInema 4D and Aladdin to Blender, but fails to see that Blender models have become a standard in the 3D community and you can share your models with other artists.
Blender is running fine on a SAM, so it should be at least usable for low complexity stuff on classic. I doubt however that I would have the patience to wait for a render. It might take minutes to get a single frame.

I don't sign up to that thinking either thanks. Not all Amiga users are loons :)

OMG! *Why*?!
If it gives someone some amusement then why not?

I'm curious now... Blender was already available for OS4.1, right? So am I to understand that executables that run on OS4.1 on AmigaOne, SAM or PegII won't also run on OS4.1 classic? An OS4.1 app should run on any hardware capable of running OS4.1, that's what an OS is for, surely?
-
You must think in the speed, Blender needs much CPU speed to render.

This Blender "distro" has lower memory requirements, that's all.

yes I understood that this update has enhancements for lower memory situations as the initial releases were tested on newer machines with 512MB + memory as a minimum

It works now on AmigaOS 4.1 Classic on the 4000, but you'll still need a swap partition or ZorRAM/DK3128. But it doesn't crash now :) Rendering for small projects is still OK speedwise. A1200 users with Blizzard PPC may have not seen the crash if they have 256MB ram.

Oh boy just like rendering in the old days! It will take 3 days to render something with blender on a 200mhz or less ppc! YAY!
Wow what fantastic news for classic users. And yes isn't it the same version for sam?
