hi can anyone point me in the direction of a set of instructions on how to replace my 3.0 roms in my a1200 with 3.1 ones ?
is it an easy process?
also i have a cf hdd installed in my amiga will that need new worchbench installing or will it function the same with the new chips?

Hi,
It's an easy job. Just gently pry out the old ones and reinstall the new ones. The sockets have an extra row of holes than the chips have pins so remember which side they sit at. I didn't in my gung-ho-ness and so had to ask. Have a look at this thread for some pictures.

Well this is what I do and I have done this many many times. You must be very careful and notice the split between the ROM chip and its seating. Also note the extra holes. What I do after I have dropped the new pins over the holes is check with a bright light and magnifying glass. If you can take a digi and quickly look on a PC you can often see very high def pics of how the pins are sitting. Anyway, others use a special ROM lifter, I use a screwdriver but I am very careful and slow...

Just be reaaaally careful, as the tiny little legs bend very easily.
When I swapped mine, I had a heck of a time getting them all lined up correctly
