I've just sat down to install my new 4GB CF from Amigakit in my A4000D, I selected my OS and put the floppy in the drive......it seems my copy of Workbench 3.1 has a read block error and now I've restarted the computer I can't get back Amigakits menu......any ideas would be great.

Suggest you contact Amigakit via the support ticket system, I'm pretty sure there is a way to recover their menu/install system.

In a CLI or Shell type
OS-Install
and press Enter
Or on boot, when the AmigaKit logo is displayed for a few seconds, press the O key. A message will be displayed Loading OS-Install
You will then be presented with the OS-Install program where you can select the version of AmigaOS to install onto the hard disk:

Thank you, I will try that. It seems my floppy drive is broken I will try tomorrow with a spare external drive

Ah it seems I've made it worse - Support Ticket raised! This is what happened last night........
I fitted the CF-HDD and turned the system on, it came up with the Amigakit logo and menu, so I followed the instructions in the same way I did when I setup my CF-HDD on my A1200. However this time my A4000 wouldn't read my Workbench floppy I tried many times and hit cancel. That resulted in loosing the menu but the logo still came up. So I went into workbench and tried to install from there. Mid-Install the same thing happened it couldn't read the floppy. Now the CF-HDD will not boot or show up in any form of workbench. I have a PCMCIA CF reader for my A1200 that I just tested the card on and it comes up with CFO:NDOS. How do I format and partition the 4GB card?
It also seems that the A4000 floppy drive is a bit hit a miss reading floppies, my spare external drive is a bit better, and maybe my WK3.1 is screwed.....but......could I copy the WK3.1 CF card from my A1200 and use it on my A4000?
It is times like this I realise I have no idea what I'm doing!
Right, well after lots of playing around I realised that the startup had changed I managed to limp into Workbench and the CF-HDD was there!!! So I swapped the startup files around and got back to the Amigakit menu........now trying to installed WK3.1 again!
