Greetings. I have a PC PS in my A2000 which works great. However I always have to run with the cover off and the PS loose inside.
Obviously the power cord connector and on/off switch don't line up like the stock PS does.
How does everyone else run? Same as me or have they somehow managed to attach it to the frame? Does anyone sell customized back plates?

In my 3000T, when the power supply died I pulled out the guts and bolted the PC PSU into the old 3000T power supply's case.
I cut and soldered all of the wires to the harness' wires, could've done it neater but it was good enough.

Ya I thought of that - but on a 2000 the PS isn't completely square, the one part is angled. I eyeballed it and don't think the PC PS would fit inside.

Back when I still ran A2000s, I just removed the internals of an AT PSU and put them in the A2000 PSU's case.
Naturally if you have anything to ask about that procedure, don't do it yourself. There's a fire + electric shock risk if you do it wrong.

If you are in usa I can sell you a almost new original amiga 2000 psu for a good deal :)

My A2000 also has a PC PSU, Its bolted in securely and the rear of the chasis is modified for the fan, though I never got around to moving the switch to the front.
I got the 2000 like this, So no chance for me to fix/mod the original PSU which would have been my preferred option.

Ok, so obviously it can be done. I'll give it a try. My PC PSU is your typical older square type so I'll see if it'll fit.

Just wanted to say I did it!
- took apart my stock Amiga PS
- took apart my PC PS
- had to drill new holes and mount new standoffs as the PC PS board was smaller
- connector from the plug to the circuit board was different so I just snipped it and directly soldered the connections to the leads
- reinstalled the fan
- plugged it in, flipped the switch....looked for smoke....checked the reading on my PS tester which showed both +5V and +12V
- cracked open a beer
Here's a pic.

Looks like a good job. I'll wager it surprised you just how easy it was...
These days there is no reason for putting up with underpowered 200w PSUs in an A2000.

Not one time in 20 years of amiga use and system building of amiga 2000s have I ever needed a bigger psu in the a2k... so far from "underpowered" imho

Just posting to kick down a thread I don't like appearing on my Amiga forum community...
move along...

iirc, all I needed is flip atx psu upside-down. and drilled one more hole in it:
