Title: WTD! Amiga 4000D 3.1 ROM's
Post by: LordSpunky on June 09, 2011, 04:27:30 PM
Hi folks I'm after 3.1 ROMS for the A4000D, I don't want to flash my Cyberstorm because I cant work it out. I'm not sure about buying the A4000T roms from Amigakit because of the missing file, if no one can send it to me. I can buy some for about £29 but I have to wait awhile.....

anyone got some knocking around?

Tris

Hmm...I just got the A4000T roms from Amigakit for my A4000D.  Apparently I can use the roms with 3.9 just fine...is that true?  I didn't really do any homework before ordering them so I'm not really sure what I'm potentially getting myself into here!

Yup you have no problem, don't panic. It is the use of OS3.1 that is the problem, they removed workbench.library from the 3.1 A4000T ROM's and put them on the Workbench discs. I don't have a copy of the A4000T 3.1OS......therefore I am missing the file.

3.9 will be ok I think

I think I know the guy you are talking about, looks like he burns the PROM's himself if it's the same dude. AFAIK, kickstart roms never came in ceramic packages.

My 3.1 ROM in my A2000 works great though, so, the dude is legit, in that sense anyways. :-)

I've seen a lot of "burnt" roms on ebay... I guess its a necessity if there are no legitamite channels...

My a4000d did come the factory with ceramic eproms. Intel brand - oh what irony.

Same here. It was not a big deal to UV erase them and put something else on them. I never understood why they were used, they cost CBM probably 20 times more than a masked programmed ROM.

...and I 'see' a false AMIGAfan who sells a lot of "Roms" on the Web: he sells his originals because they had copied. It would seem to provide much of EPROMs.

My choices are:
A4000T 3.1 ROM's - Amigakit - £28.58 + P&P [Requires workbench.library]
A4000 3.1 ROM's - eBay Secondhand Working - USA - £26 Delivered
A4000 3.1 ROM's - Vesalia - Germany - £42.82 Delivered
hmmmm......I wonder!!!!! If I could get over this library problem I would by from Amigakit first and always - I trust them to start with, that helps!

How do you get around the workbench.library issue? Can you get the actual library and just drop it onto your file system or is the file itself not readily available?
