Title: Amiga joysticks
Post by: Darrin on June 03, 2011, 02:08:06 AM
Here's a big tip to a "certain Amiga-orientated company", just because you advertise a product with $1 shipping, doesn't mean you can get away with just putting $1 of postage on the package.

Mrs Darrin wasn't too pleased to find a letter in the mailbox yesterday informing her that she needed to collect a package in person from the Post Office because the correct postage hadn't been applied, resulting in my rather irritated wife calling me today to say "It was a f***ing joystick!  What the f*** do you want another joystick for?".  My reply of "You can never have enough joysticks" didn't seem to calm her.

Anyway, she had to fork out more than $4 to have them release it with the explaination that it was sent 1st Class, but the postage wasn't enough for a 2lb box.  Saying that, the other joystick did manage to get through with no problems, but I don't know how much postage was applied to that one.

:D

Sigh... that's the trouble with women once they've got that wedding ring on and they let you settle in safely for a few years then old joystick barely gets a look in... :(

I found the best place for my missus was that handy hole that someone dug mysteriously one night at the bottom of me garden, and wee fat Janice the cleaning lady is quite happy to keep my joystick shiny and in good working order... :)

@Darrin

Is it all good if we Paypal you $6? We use interns to do all shipping and it sounds like a little boo boo happened.

Don't worry about it, my wife and I are both laughing about it and I'm sure it wasn't deliberate.  Even the post office says it "happens all the time".  Accidents happen, just give the interns a good spanking or threaten to send them to Bill Clinton.  :D

I'm worried that my dog might keep trying to dig her up again.

Hmm... that could be a problem... :(

Guess you'll just have to wait until two holes mysteriously appear and hope that one of em's dog shaped... :D

Failing that get your stuff you buy sent to one of the rigs you work on, that way the missus will never know... ;)

I'll never forget explaining to an old Army buddy of mine who was convinced that his wife wouldn't let him buy a hard drive for his Amiga 1200 that he just needed to have it delived to the barracks and then install it when she was out, just like I did with my CPU card and hard drive.  Unfortunately I didn't know that my ex-wife was standing behind me listening.  She wasn't impressed.  :D

Proper and frequent application of your joystick with the wife keeps arguments about Amiga joysticks in the irrelevant realm.  ;-)

Oh yes Back OT getting them delivered to work works a treat and also telling her "my brother gave them to me...." work too.... :D
