Who cant PNG Icons be seen on an Amiga OS3.9 NON grafix board system, when PNG pictures can?
It would be great to have PNG Icons on my 1200 using OS3.9 but I have no mediator like I used to have in the past.
TIA
Mike.

To be honest, while I don't understand why you'd want to use PNG Icons on an Amiga this package on AmiNet should allow you to do so... :)
PNG PowerIcons For Amiga (http://aminet.net/package/util/wb/PowerIcons)

Well the idea is this, I want to see how all the Icons look on my OS3.9
Like I have used MagicWorkbench, NewIcons, GlowIcons,
What ever Icon set looks the best I shall use but at the same time I am considering memory usage to right now I am using 64 colour Workbench, but of course MWB with 8 colours gives me more memory so its all try and test.
I have 32 meg of fastram to play with.

I see... but if you have FBlit installed then memory problems would be thing of the past when using icons or 256 colour WB screens in 3.9 (as they'll use your FastMem instead)... :)
-
Ahhhhh yes that's the one FBlit, yes now I remember, thanks downloading now......

while we are on that topic. Who had the stupid idea to rename PNGs to .info without adding the metadata? And why do some developers assume that OS4 users will know how to make them visible?
Well at least I don´t. Am I the only one?

No Amiga should be without FBlit... ;)
-
No I think there are more than you who have that problem, who did they do that?
Mike.

PNG icons are 32 bit PNG images. You can't use it without a GFX card.

It's because most developers are your real hardcore nerdy geek types and think everybody should think like them and miraculously have all the same knowledge that they have... :)
Also some of them do it deliberately just to make themselves feel superior to us mere mortals... ;)

I am not worthy......

"PNG Icons" on OS4.x and MorphOS indeed *have* the usual meta data (i.e. for Tooltypes, icon positions) in it. For OS4.x install the png.iconmodule (see OS4Depot).

The kind that has the metadata is not a problem. They work out of the box with OS4. But some software comes with files that are plain PNGs and I usually have to rename them and use image2icon.

Urgh, really? I must admit I've never seen this before...
