Title: SAM460 Audio driver for OS4 in beta testing
Post by: SysAdmin on May 28, 2011, 02:10:25 AM
News from rossv via amigaworld.net

We would like to update you all on the development of the SAM460 audio  driver. This was a lot more complicated than originally anticipated due  to the nature of the SM502 chip.

Anyway we are happy to inform  you that Ross Vumbaca in association with ACube Systems, has released an  initial version of the SAM460 audio driver to the OS4 beta testing  team.

It is expected that this driver will then shortly be released to all other SAM460 owners.

The SAM460 audio driver supports both the SAM460ex and the newly released SAM460 lite.

Thank you to all SAM460 owners for their patience and understanding during this time!

Does anyone else find it funny that they are charging such ridiculous money for 10 year old spec hardware AND the audio is flaky?

My understanding is that the hardware doesn't have "flaky audio", but OS4 required drivers to support the audio chip on the motherboard.

@haywirepc, takemehomegrandma:

You guys obviously have no interest in purchasing a SAM system because you think it's under-powered and not worth the money.  That's fine - no problem with that.

But why you feel compelled to pollute a thread about a system you're not interested in with unhelpful personal opinions is beyond me.  If you're not ever going to buy one anyway... then why do you care?

You're not the only ones though.  It just never ceases to amaze me, that's all.

No sir, any anti-OS4 sentiment on amiga.org is your pure imagination.

Maybe bit deserved this time. It is for sure good news to SAM customers but generally they are posting too much news when there is still nothing to buy, use or download.

Generally I dont mind posting OS4 development updates as news.

it was clearly advertised by ACube on the very first 460ex announcement that the audio driver would be delivered at a later date

@ the usual suspects

give it a break once in a while guys;)
