Title: A shame he's not swinging by his neck!
Post by: nicholas on May 26, 2011, 06:31:53 PM
Ratko Mladic, the man responsible for the most recent holocaust in Europe was today arrested in Serbia after 15 years of being kept safe by the Serbian Government.

Hope he gets the beast treatment in prison.

There are still a lot of people that consider the man a patriot and a hero.  I wonder how much that will change once he's put on trial.

Mostly Serbs living in the Bosnian Serb Republic idolise him rather than Serbia proper.

That makes sense.  There were a few pro-Mladic demonstrations in Belgrade apparently, but I don't think they were very big, and I know there are a lot of Bosnian Serbs living there since the war.

Funny story.  When I was living in Belgrade back in 2004, I remember my friend's little brother, who is a bit of a nutter, had a shirt with Ratko's picture on it and "Serbian Hero" written underneath.  When were going into the stands to watch the football game, the police were there looking for hooligans, and as we passed, they gestured to us to come over to them and started talking to him.  My Serbian was very rough, so I only got the gist of what they were talking about, but they really seemed to like his shirt, and they let us in ahead of the other people waiting to get in.
