Title: Selling the entire amiga horde, step right up...
Post by: haywirepc on May 25, 2011, 03:30:51 PM
1) amiga 1200 minus rom chips, with ps, 2.5 inch 4 gig hard drive os3.9 installed. 68030 50mhz accellerator. I have some 3.0 rom chips around I will include. Worked when 3.1 rom chips removed. I have a set of 3.0 roms I will include.

1) Amiga 500 I believe it has the fatter angus amiga 500 upgrade and 512k trapdoor expansion, 2.X rom Otherwise stock very nice condition including power supply.

1) Amiga 2000 which I believe is stock, with 1.2 roms floppy only here but in great condition with keyboard/mouse power cord etc.

1) Amiga 1000 with 2 meg sidecar expansion, Good keyboard, mouse all working from the kickstart/workbench I had on floppy to test with.

All computers thus far working, booted up and checked. Next one... I have no idea (yet) but I may give that some time if interest is keen.

1) Famous Amiga 500 tower. Pictures available here of this thing. I was told it has a 386 bridgeboard, accellerator and extra ram, scsi hard drive. I'm ashamed to say been too busy to do anything with it. Has a black amiga external keyboard and mouse with it. There is a scsi internal tape drive and a cd-rom drive built into the tower. An interesting piece of amiga history.Condition unknown. PICS in the gallery here. It sure is interesting! Someone once called it the most powerful amiga 500 in the world. Its a beast of amiga goodness yours for the taking...

Monitors

1) 1084 works great but like many, the power button sticks, but otherwise works great.

1) Thompson color monitor, a bit bigger and nicer looking than a 1084, originally came with the amiga 2000 I got.
This monitor includes rgb cable to hookup to any amiga rgb port.

1) Original A1000 rgb monitor. great condition.

Floppies : I have a whole bunch of floppy plastic box holders filled with amiga software and utilities. There is probably 200 floppy discs in total. Most working as many of these systems were floppy only, I tried out alot of the discs in the horde and most work.

ALSO : 1 external amiga floppy drive, I believe this is the fatter type, dk model off hand but will check if someone needs to know for sure.

Magazines : 2 or 3 big boxes full of amiga magazines. Yes all part of the horde... All yours.

Books/boxed software : There are several boxes full of software, mostly productivity but a few games. All included in the horde Some system manuals I believe too.

Misc : I have tons of odds and ends, a few joysticks, (1 sega genesis one more atari like) There is also an amigamaniac rgb to svideo adapter and I'll even throw in an svideo to vga adapter too, so you can do all amiga screenmodes on any vga monitor.

There is also a shoebox full of amiga cd-roms, mostly aminet orginals.
Whatever else I find is also included in the horde sale.

Also included : I have some original boxes. I mean there is an amiga 500 box, a 1084 box and so on. Maybe more, all included.

More misc : I have a few cf ide adapters and drives, I think those are for the 1200 and installed with either os3.9 or os3.1

In short, cleaning out my entire horde. I am sure many items, extras, parts, useful items and so on not listed here will also be thrown in the boxes and included in the horde.

Now here is the hard part. I would prefer to sell this entire horde to one U.S. buyer, the highest bidder. Buyer pays actual shipping for entire horde. Will combine as much as possible to make shipping as inexpensive as possible. Will probably take 3-4 BIG boxes.

May list on ebay with pics, but offering to true amiga fans here first.

Open to all offers, I'm in Philadelphia,PA, USA and will highly discount if entire horde sale if someone can pick up the horde in person. As you can imagine, this is an incredible load of stuff that I would prefer goes to all one person. I'm sorry but splitting everything up will take ages...

I'm pretty sure this is a fantastic load of stuff for any amiga fan. I'm hopeful someone will want the whole horde. In short, I'm giving you everything amiga I have collected in the last several years of my nostalgia trip. Thats over for me, but it was a blast.

I'm moving on to AROS for all my amiga needs and will have no need of all this stuff. Its just too much for my tiny house.

Public offers offered here on this thread are preferred to pms, lets let everyone have a fair shot at getting the whole horde please.

Best regards, and thanks for reading...

Forgot to mention, but since I am moving entirely to NG AMIGA for in person traders I will consider a registered morphos machine or a really good x86 pc for my aros use in trade.

I think that would be very fair considering the horde collection here.

You have PM.

Sorry I prefer as I said in my post not to break up. One person gets the whole load.

More pms... For morphOS traders, please 1.5 ghz working registered system or better. I think this entire load of amiga goodness is worth a bit more than a low spec emac.

I am looking forward to clearing out all this space and replacing it with one AROS pc and one morphos os machine possibly.

I had hoped that people would bid publicly so everyone would know whats going on, but it appears that people prefer pm's.

Contact me via pm if you would like to make an offer. As previously stated I would prefer not to break it up. I have several interested parties all willing to pick up the horde in person already so if you want me to ship this monstrous load, you may be out of luck already.

Best regards,

Steven

Lots of initial interest. Some people made offers but did not follow through.

All still available. Must go soon. Please make offers via pm.
As previously stated I'd prefer someone to pick it all up. I'm in Philadelphia,PA.

All reasonable offers considered.

Best regards,

Wow Steven,
I'm amazed no one has snapped this up! The registration price for MorphOS is pretty low. If I had a second Powermac or other capable machine around I'd be on it in a second.

BTW - Welcome to the future. I'm surprised you decided to move in this direction, but as you could guess I wholly support it.

Hi,

@haywirepc,

A Philly boy, wish I would of known that, I am from Wilkes Barre, in Luzerne County, home of the biggest political crooks and judges in Pennsylvania. Even Philly is less crooked then this area.

Didn't know there was so many Amiga users in Pennsyltucky still left.

Yes I am kind of dissapointed in this process. I struggled with the decision to let it all go for some time. I thought someone would snap it all up too, and quick. So far many offers but no follow through.

All still available for the right trader or buyer. Its an amazing load of amiga still up for grabs. I may just box it all up and keep it.

@ Smerf and Steven

The fact that you're both in the State immediately to the North of me is a surprise.
I thought most Amiga fanatics lived in Europe.

BTW - My Dad was from  Pennsyltucky. I always felt like I was traveling a decade or two into the past when we visited relatives there.

@ Smerf, Iggy & HayWirePC

You lot are aving a  larf aint ya... ;)

There's no real place called Pennsyltucky, pull the other one... :)

If there is such a oddly shaped and named place then Smerf, stand outside your house with your pancake on your napper and I'll go to that google map thingy and zoom in and see if I can spot you (might help if you jumped up and down a wee bit and waved and Amiga about, just in case all the other locals happen to wear pancakes or other such delicacies on their bonces...) :)

Nah... Pennsyltucky... noooo way.... surely you could've made up a better name than that... you can't fool me... I'm onto the three of you, you know... ;)

Now excuse me while I get back to my mythical village of Brigadoon before it disappears for another century... :)

PS: It's just dawned on me... Haywirepc, that why you haven't sold your collection yet no-one can collect it from a made up place... ;)

Everybody from Pennsyltucky has a pancake on their head, he's the real deal all right! :biglaugh:

@haywirepc - What kind of NG setup are you after?

@ Franko

Its a reference to the fact that Pennsylvania and Kentucky both contain part of the Appalachian Mountain range and that some of the inhabitants resemble extras from the movie Deliverance.

@ TheGoose

I think he mentioned a 1.5 or better G4 with a registered copy of MorphOS or a decent AROS system.
Frankly, I think he'd profit better by selling the Commodore hardware and buying the replacements directly.

I have no idea why no one has snatched this offer up. It's a good one.

Ahh... Deliverance... :)

One of the best movies ever made and "Dueling Banjos" has to be one of the best tunes ever... :)

So is this really Smerf in this movie (the hat's do kinda look like pancakes right enough...) :)

I am in Maryland just south of this great state of Pennsyvania, I see someone in Deleware, I know of another Amiga person in Maryland, we have enough to start a user group, so when is the next meeting? :afro:

Ha! Not too far off. I used to drive to PA to attend PAC meetings. Then a small group of us (about 12) would break off and head to another location to have a meeting covering 6809 and 68K OS9.
So we DO almost have enough for a users group (or a convention).

That would be the best approach. However, I am only about an hour and a half away, and the big black A500 sounds tempting. Of course, I'd have to clean out my car first, including the Mickey Mouse LCD monitor (no kidding) on top of stuff in the back seat that I am planning to use with my own AROS setup. The case I have is even better :-))

No need to start one, there is one:

http://www.ncaug.org/

The next meeting is when a) someone takes the trouble to organize it or b) someone gets a juicy piece of new gear and everyone wants to meet and play with it or x) somebody hacks the date on the website, promises free beer, posts a link on /dot, and thousands of people show up at Walter's without warning. I think 'x' is the most likely.

If so get in touch and maybe both of us can start a bi-centennial meeting of "Amiga Users Scotland" I'll provide the Irn Bru & Tunnocks Tea Cakes... ta very glad... I eagerly await to hear from you... :)

PS: Anyone know a good medium (as this might prove tricky)... :)

Unless someone has an accelerated MorphOS system, there is only one Mac model that runs at 1.5GHz and none that run over 1.5GHz (yet).  The fastest G4 PowerMac's were the 1.42GHz MDD models, the same speed as the fastest G4 eMac's, so you might want to reconsider your request for a trade and move the bar down to a minimum of 1.25GHz G4 PowerMac, single G4, or dual G4.  The only G4's that run faster on a MorphOS supported system are third party accelerators for the PowerMac, or the 1.67GHz G4 inside the last PowerBook's, but there is no current support for any G4 PowerBook's yet.

MorphOS2.7 does run very fast on any 1.25GHz G4 system, so you shouldn't feel like you are getting an inferior system, just because it is not running at the same speed as the fastest stock Mac G4 model that is currently supported by MorphOS2.x, the 1.5GHz G4 MacMini.  The only faster supported MorphOS2.x systems are the G4 PowerMac's that have third party accelerators, like the 1.8GHz G4 Sonnet.  The 1.25Ghz & 1.42GHz G4 eMac's that you seem opposed to are actually pretty good systems for running MorphOS2.7 on, but they are bulky and heavy.

Good luck with your switch over from Classic to Next Gen Amiga systems (I hope you don't regret it).

The truth is I have been using a dedicated emulation pc running os3.9 for some time now. Its just much easier than dealing with real hardware, especially all these floppy systems as I do not have a catweasel.

Most often I am actually using my linux pc (which is my every day computer) for running amiga stuff too. I figured out how to have icons on the linux desktop or bars to directly launch whatever amiga programs I still want to run. (Dpaint, octamed, games and so on)

We are selling our house and I'd like to lighten the load alot before any move.  I'm sure I may miss alot of this stuff especially once we move to a much bigger place as we are planning. I will be building a new aros pc in the next few weeks or months. I'd really like a morphOS machine someday, but so far spare X86 pcs are just easier to come by than appropriate macs.

True David, the fastest non-accelerated G4 macs (other than the Powerbooks) is the 1.5 Ghz Mac Mini.
And that model has enough VRAM to make it work well with MorphOS.
Personally, I'd prefer a 1.42 MDD or an accelerated Powermac (at least until Powerbook or G5 support is introduced). Those models have more expansion options.

Whatever direction Steven chooses, he's bound to find NG systems to be more capable then legacy hardware.
I'm fond of real Amigas too, but for everyday use they're just not up to some tasks.

Lately, though, I'm watching prices for Classic Amiga hardware (most classics across the board really) go up and up. Where Amiga 500s were $20 now I regularly see close to $100 with bids unexpanded.

Amiga 1000 will be the true classic of the Amiga line being the first for sure. I think his best bet is to keep them a bit and let them appreciate or put it all up for sale separate and for part of the proceeds he can get a decent PowerMac or MacMini (I got my 1.5 GHz mini for less than $200) and get MorphOS.

Trade or sold as a lot he wont get anywhere near what its all worth now with the appreciating values I'm seeing.

Yep, I've only got a little more then that invested in my Powermac.
The problem Steven has is storing all this stuff. If he's moving now would be the time to let it go and replace it with an NG system after the move.

Moving is a pain in the ass without having to lug around a lot of old hardware. I know. My last move I brought along a lot of older hardware (most of which I later sold on Ebay). I wish I'd sold the stuff before the move.

And I use my MOS system more often than our PCs. Unless you invest a lot of money in a legacy system, you're not going to get as much day to day utility.
