I got my hands on an old 68K Macintosh LC III. It has got an external SCSI CD-ROM and an internal floppy drive as well as a 120MB HD with System 7.1 installed.
Thing is its a ba***rd to copy stuff to the Mac because cd's have to be burned in a certain way and i have to use Leopard because Snow cannot format Mac Original etc. etc...
I need to get an old version of Stuffit Expander unto the Mac.
Is it possible that i download it using my iMac, copy it to CF card and then from CF to my A1200 and then from the A1200 to a floppy disk that will work in the Mac?

Probably if you format the disk to PC 720k..
Mac 800k disks are dual speed, Amiga can't write to them. Your LC is new enough to have a HD drive, that should be able to read PC floppies.

So having said that I am better off using a PC (My MB Air with XP Virtual machine and external USB FDD) to format a 1.44MB floppy instead of a 720K no?

If the file you have to transfer is larger than 720 KB, yes.

Hi
You can use this workaround - Catweasel Mk-II:

I know it's hard to find, and expensive

Use CrossMac.
You should not download it from any tosec amiga applications torrent ;)

I'll have a go with the pc (MB Air with XP and ext FDD) and if i don't manage then I will try CrossMac by not downloading it from tosec. ;)
Thanks

I believe that Shapeshifter is able to read/write 800 KB Mac disks along with the Catweasel. Shapeshifter alone or CrossMac can also handle 720 KB or 1440 KB Mac disks (if you have an amiga HD drive).
Shapeshifter would be the best solution to manage directly the mac files inside a system 7/8 OS.

Question slightly out of topic... I managed using a PC.
Anyone understands this old mac problem:
I copied stuffit on a mac formatted floppy and it reads on the LC III and i copied it.
When i try run it it says "could not be opened because the application program that created it cold not be found. do you want to open it using simple text?"
Thing is that this is stuffit-expander-4.0.1.sea.bin so what am i supposed to open it with?

Never mind... Managed :)
