I hope I am in the right forum for this but I want recommend online games as retro as they get.The Novanet hosts the old PLATO network games on non prime time. thats 10pm-6am mon-fri and allday sat and sun. Those times are US central (-6Z).

These games were all developed in the late 70's and are not graphics oriented, although they were ground breaking for their time. The software to connect is available at:Welcome to Avatar (http://www.heavyharmonies.com/Avatar/)

The software is for wimdows but I think wine will run it under linux.

Most people play Avatar and the 84 version.  It was the first RPG with a 3d perspective dungeon display.
I have a party of characters but am always running a thief named Wally Llama.  If you try the game p-message me and I will help you . This game has no player killing and in fact players help each other with quests and rescues.

One other thing there was a PLATO access program in the late 80's for the AMIGA.   I had that software. I do not know if it would work with NOVAnets new network as I do not have an AMIGA with a modem.
