Before I turn this thing back on, thought I'd check with the borg:
I got a new WD SCSI chip, and after checking the regular authorities I
see the noted updgrade chip a:
WD33C93A-PL 00-08 9131 F (Latest Revision)
Mine should be ok? It shows:
WD33C93A-PL 00-08 9209 F

You have no ROM tower. Turn your computer on with that new SCSI chip and V'ger will be coming for you. Resistance is futile.

I just love the Amiga 3000....just a sweet machine!
Cheers!

The only differing digits indicate the date code, so no problem whatsoever.
-
"00-08": it's perfect!
-
Ah, date code. Thanks Borg! I got it back together last night but had to stop because wife likes me to watch "King of Thrones" and "The Killing" with her. I'll try it tonight.

All's good. She came right back up. :)

@ thegoose
What want to know is HOW do you get these great pics loaded into the threads?
Michael

@TheGoose
What was the reason for the chip change?
-
@SACC-guy
Well, I just use my Droid 2, and upload right to Pisca. It really takes the pain out sharing an image. Before it was, take pic, upload to PeeCee, re-size and upload to web; which sucks.
@Brian I just wanted to eliminate possible bugs, and I might have another SCSI device connected (CDROM) at some point.

@ the goose
Please. What is droid2 and what is pisca?
How does one upload to amigadotorg?

Where can you purchase an -08 scsi chip for the A3000?

I got this one off eBay. Search around and you can find them, Search by the chip designation:
WD33C93A-PL 00-08
8 available here:

You might all look at it this way too:
Your A3000 has a hardware bug, that's in a socket; you can easily fix it. So do it.

Michael, you need to go take a computer course at you local community college.
-
@the goose
LOL Yep! Only because I use amiga...
no smart phone running os4 and no access to pisca...unless I switch to pc/mac
I could use pointers on uploading to the org. If you never needed to do it, newbie clues are de rigeur
Thanks,
Michael

Hey, I went from no phone to smart phone just this past year so, I can understand. OS4, I'm sure there are tools to make it easier to edit/upload, but I'm not that guy.
I know the site here has some limits on the upload size / dimensions. But if you hot link to a external image, you go around those limitations. Maybe you could look at some other services like:
Flickr
image shack
pisca
I think even Adobe has a free online service, oh flash based probably though.

@the goose
I just didn't want to pay for data on a "smart Phone" since I pay for it to my isp.
I'll look into hot linking but I've shyed away from most cloud service (read charge) service
thx

@TheGoose and everyone else who contributed to this thread, Thanks!!!!!
I have an A3000 that I pulled out after a couple of years. I put two hard drives a zip drive and a CD burner on the 3000, all are SCSI.
The system was acting a bit odd (unstable) especially when using DOpus, didn't know what is was. After reading this thread I bought my own 00-08 chip (thanks TheGoose for recommending an ebay vendor). Everything is now running fine.
Again Thanks

@Motormouth
Well great, that is just the sort of setup that this would benefit from.
