Title: Genlock
Post by: trekiej on May 14, 2011, 08:08:30 AM
Do you think Genlocks are still useful.
With mcc-216,mini-mig,chameleon,f-arcade, and Natami keeping the 68k Amiga software alive, do you think they should support a genlock?

Haven't used my old Rendale Genlock since the early 90's and to be honest can't see much of a use for it these days... :)

Pretty sure there must be still some folk out there who still use them, but for me Genlock support on the new boards would be a big factor if at all... :)

With an external genlock and a new core loaded into one of these awesome computers, it could be something to add to what we have. The new core would convert vga to rgb, etc.

I see your point, suppose it would be nice to have and if the NatAmi is 100% backward compatible then surely it must have the ability built in to genlock, only thing is how would you connect a 23 pin Amiga genlock device to it... :)

@ Kesa

Sorry mate... here I'll make up for it...

Genlocks are no good to ozzies cos they don't have enough brain cells to figure out how to use a device that simple... :)

(Hope that helps... :)

OK thought about it. I got nothing. How can you make a smart ass comment about a Genlock?

I'm thinking a genlock might still be usefull if you were titleing something live like a concert or a sporting event. Way back in the day, I started a Cando deck to do simple baseball graphics after the local cable system rep mentioned it in passing. They had a genlock equipped 500 in their mobile public access truck.
