Title: Deteriorating floppies recovery methods?
Post by: freqmax on May 12, 2011, 09:37:51 PM
Those of you that has recovered deteriorating floppies. What kind of encoding violations do they produce and what mitigation have you used to get a working image file?

One can connect directly to the read head to sample the analog waveform for that extra in-depth capability.

Found this:

The waveforms of wrecked analog pulses could be used as basis for an head -> A/D -> decoder. This should be able to handle bit-smear and AGC mismatches.
