"expendable"
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Hmm.. don't know what you mean? If you like i can sell you one for 4500€ as "non off the shelf PC" with an unique case made only one time.

What motherboard does it use?
-
So does AROS actually run nice, smooth, and nearly flawlessly on this hardware, or does is screw up left and right like it does on about any other PC with supported hardware?
-
Hi,
Well the AresOne matches the best HW-spec supported by AROS.
From the driver POV.
Some other compatible PC's have supported AUDIO and LAN but can't boot with SATA.
On AresOne SATA is working even with AHCI enabled.
The next thing is that Broadway is made on and made for AresOne.. so chances are there that Braodway works on other PC's a little bit worse or maybe it refuses because it is preconfigured for LAN and Sound of the AresOne and Imica.

I never really had a problem with it on my non-ares aros box. Although it did take a couple different tries to find a mobo that would boot with it. It was kinda odd that I had two different manufacture's mobos based upon the same chipset and one booted fine and the other locked up after selecting a graphics mode.
Anyway, I for one, would be more tempted to buy one of these media oriented AROS boxes if somebody would get samba or any other way to access windows/linux shares working and stable out of the box. Transfering 12tb of media to a machine running a beta OS isn't something I'm willing to do. Hell, just transferring that much data is a nightmare, never mind the OS.
*Before anybody says anything, I'm aware I'm a digital packrat.:roflmao:

Good news about the other Amiga way.

I may buy one, then if AROS still has graphical problems, crashing issues, and system hang issues with Janus and other apps, then I'll just format and install something else. Either way it's a good price for a compact PC! Thankx for the heads up!
