Title: A4000 Battery Leak...
Post by: Claw22000 on April 24, 2011, 06:34:33 AM
I have an A4000 with a leaky battery and I am going to remove it from the board.  However there is some corrosion on the board and I know I can't just pour coke on it :D any one know what I should do to remove it?

Also does the board need a new battery or can I use it without one?
(I don't care about time stamping)

Soak the area in vinegar or lemon juice for a bit. Then rinse with warm running water. Follow up with a toothbrush and baking soda, another warm water rinse, then (finally) a rinse with distilled water. Blot up the excess moisture with a paper towel and let it dry completely. Remove and replace any nearby parts that show signs of damage (corroded IC legs or pads), and make sure to thoroughly clean underneath them.

A new battery isn't a must.
